Updated Review I originally removed my previous review at the request of the former administrator, Maria, because she assured me improvements were being made. Since her departure, along with several other staff members, my experience has only gotten worse. The biggest issue is communication. Phone calls are rarely answered, messages are not returned, and getting a response from the business office is extremely difficult. I’ve spent weeks trying to resolve a billing issue with little to no follow-up. In May, I was notified that a check I mailed in January had allegedly been rejected by the facility’s bank. My bank has repeatedly confirmed that the check was never presented for payment. I was told there is a known issue with their bank, City National, rejecting checks without explanation. The administrator said someone with the appropriate banking access would contact me, but weeks later I still have not received a call. This is not the first time I’ve been told one of my checks was “rejected,” yet my bank has no record of the check ever being processed. Meanwhile, my father is repeatedly told he has no money, despite my checks arriving by the first of every month. The lack of accountability and organization is extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, the billing issues are only part of a larger problem. Staff turnover has been significant, communication is consistently poor, and the facility still relies on paper checks instead of offering electronic payment options. Combined with the lack of follow-up, it creates the impression of a disorganized operation. My previous concerns also remain. Reaching someone by phone, especially after business hours, is nearly impossible. It can be difficult to find staff on the floor in the evenings, making me worry about how quickly residents receive assistance if they need it. Families also struggle to get updates about their loved one’s condition or medical appointments. The staff members I have interacted with in person have generally been kind and courteous, and I appreciate their efforts. However, kindness alone cannot make up for the ongoing administrative problems, poor communication, billing concerns, and overall lack of organization. If this is the experience families are having, I can’t help but worry about what residents may be experiencing behind the scenes. Given the cost of care, I expect a much higher level of professionalism, communication, and accountability. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this facility.

I moved in on 3/10/16. Most people are nice. Staff is nice & helpful, especially the caregivers. The food isn't that great & no menu options. Communication with head staff is next to impossible as they rarely return phone calls. The beds are uncomfortable & rooms can be cold. There is no cable. The common patio is nice & breezy. Activity room is nice. However, on the weekend there's nothing going on. I also don't like having to be in by 5 pm & breakfast is way too early, 7 am.

The staff at the front desk has been so helpful when it came to helping me apply for a new ID and to get my social security figured out. I've only lived here a couple months but I have been very happy with my stay so far.

I have lived at Villa Redondo for several months now, I am very impressed with how well maintained the building is. Also, the med tech Sophea comes to her shift everyday with her pleasant smile and her positive attitude. The maintenance man Mario works tirelessly to keep the building up to standards. Mrs. Maria the administrator always makes time to hear you out for your issues.

I had 3 days to suddenly find an Assisted Living Facility in the area for my father. His dementia had come to the point where I had to take all responsibility. I met with the friendly staff person and explained my needs and was shown the facility. I found an ideal room for him and they made it a very easy and relaxed transition for him and me. I felt assured that the staff could handle his needs--which have gotten "personal". He as been there now for 4 months and has made many friends of the other residents who help him get to functions on time. There have been several special events arranged such as a trip to the Aquarium and a group viewing of the Long Beach harbor Fourth of July fireworks display. Resident's families were invited to a summer bar-b-que, and a lovely Thanksgiving dinner, both with entertainment. The staff is used to him tagging along behind looking to be helpful during their busy schedules. Louisa keeps his medicines and doctor's visits coordinated while Leanna leads exercise and other activities. Jennifer and Jocelyn harmonize the overall operation at the front office but are often seen "hands-on" as well during my visits. The caregivers have notified me of special situations that have arisen so that I could quickly solve the need and I appreciate their watchfulness and concern.
