My mother spent the last 7 months of her life at Alma Residential Care. Carla and her staff were wonderful and my wife and I greatly appreciate everything they did for my mother. I strongly recommend Alma Residential Care to anyone looking to place their loved one in a home.

Mom has been signature Pointe On The Lake as well as Monticello West. Mom was not getting the most basic attention when she needed it at either place. Due to the amount of staff per resident. Then like a blessing from the heavens a broker called me and met with me. She observed mom didn’t suggested I consider residential home care. Alma house was the first Care home I visited. I didn’t visited two more, but immediately knew Alma was the place for us!!! Please believe me when I say my mother has absolutely thrived at all! She gets all the attention she wants and needs. The staff is amazing. Consistency and cleanliness and nutrition and personal attention is just something I did not even know existed. I absolutely highly encourage you to consider visiting Alma house! And no doubt it will be the blessing to your family that it has been to mine!! Sincerely, Curt Hadaway.

If you are reading this, you face a painful decision in your life - to leave your family in someone else's care. Perhaps your family member's needs exceed your abilities and resources; maybe you cannot balance their needs with your work demands. Whatever the reason, you cannot personally accommodate their needs as well as you would wish. It hurts, it is painful, and you want the best for your family in his/her time of need. In my own experience Alma Residential was an extension of my own family. They bring the same dedication to patience, attentiveness, encouragement and kindness that only family can. Furthermore, the Residence is intimate and tightly-knit so that your family member will get the attention and stimulation they desire. Your decision to leave your family in someone's care is made even more difficult because of the current COVID 19 pandemic. Retirement homes across the country have been among the most impacted by infections and death. Let me tell you how Carla Umpire, Alma Residential owner and operator, responded: Carla moved into the Residence when COVID 19 began spreading; she instituted strict decontamination protocols for residents and visiting health care professionals alike; and all staff regularly had health checks and wore PPE. It is now June and the virus has threatened for six months, yet there have been zero cases of infection at Alma Residential. Another difficult choice you have is choosing between a large retirement home and a small residence like Alma Residential. I have had experience with both - mother in large retirement home (Sunrise Plano), father at Alma residential. It is my opinion that your family and your ailing family member will not receive the individual care and attention from a corporate-run, multi-state operation retirement home - their staff to resident ratios prevent this. On the other hand, in a family-run Residence like Alma Residential, the staff to resident ratio allows them to provide the patience, attentiveness, encouragement and kindness to your family member, as I mentioned above. A good example - both of my parents were prone to falling. Mom's retirement home took 2 weeks to get her a hospital bed and a wheelchair to prevent falls. She must also pay out-of-pocket for 24 hour personal assistance on top of her expensive monthly fees. After my father showed signs of falling at Alma Residential, Carla and staff took it upon themselves to install two cameras, a bed alarm, bed rails, and floor pads to prevent his falls. Finally, it has been my experience that If something goes wrong, a private care facility like Alma will personally call immediately, and will address the matter directly, honestly, taking responsibility if needed. Likewise, when something is going well, they celebrate the moment and may send you a picture! Sadly, neither of these is the case at my mother's large retirement home. I wish you and your family only the best during this time. There will be loss, anguish, and regret. With all of my heart I wish you didn't have to endure this, but inevitably we all must. I recommend Alma Residential Care will all of my heart. They are your family.

We have been in awe at how well my mother has been cared for. The attention to detail, compassion all demonstrated with love. We are grateful. The facility is always like a five star hotel. We have great peace of mind she is getting outstanding care. Rodney & Billie Lara
