I was very happy with my visit today. Megan took time out to talk to us about Jane’s diet and helping her get back onto solid foods. She had a good session at the physical therapy also.

Unfortunately I try never to talk down on a business but I’m going to speak out on the positive and negative of this place. There is some great staff in this building that care that I did meet while my mother was there that do really care not only about their job but their patients. Gabby was a dayshift nurse that always went above and beyond. Also th social worker Leslie and Tony at night. The front desk people who I couldn’t remember ther names were also very courteous. The facility for the most part was mostly clean. The issue I had with my mother being there first off was the food being cold almost everyday and meal. When asked multiple times why I was told they didn’t have anything to keep the meals hot while going from the kitchen to the patients. My mother was told if there was an issue she should bring it up with the kitchen staff. I explained to them that hi food has to stay hot and cold food has to stay cold and again nothing but excuses were made. This was very upsetting to the point I would stop and bring my mother hot food with her dietary restrictions. During the day for the most part she received the care she needed at least when Gabby was around. Other times I noticed myself and by what my mother told me a lot of the staff were either not trained well, under staffed or in some cases had an attitude when patients or family would ask questions. There was call buttons in the rooms but the response time wasn’t very fast and at a few times especially on night shift no response for hrs where my mother needed assistance cause she had to use the bathroom, but again I feel cause the building was understaffed. It got to the point we had to contact the in house social worker to ask for a transfer. Leslie assisted us and was very helpful. The major issue I had was the change in attitude from the staff once my mom asked for a transfer. She would try to do the physical therapy as best as she could since she has cod and is on oxygen. A lot of the staff were not trained well in proper handling of said oxygen canisters when she had to go to physical therapy to the point she had to explain when to turn certain valves on and off. I also am confused while a occupational therapist knowing my mother is on oxygen and had just done physical therapy would come up shortly after and try to make her get up again and when my mother explained she just got back from pt and was exhausted then made a remark about if she refused it could effect her transfer to another facility. Which coincidentally is the reason why she was declined to transfer and was noted because she declined with the occupational therapist. The final straw was my mother receding her pills in the morning. My mother is as sharp as a tack and does cross words, backgammon, reads the paper, has full convos with me and always weird down her medication and tracks anything else that needs listed in her notes. She received her pills that morning and asked the nurse why she didn’t get her heart medication. The nurse told her she didn’t and if it wasn’t there she must of either took it or dropped it with an attitude. Let me say that again she asked about one of her major medications being missing cause she lists and wrote down when she takes it and she was given an attitude about it and didn’t receive it. She called me upset and said she had enough and since she was declined for transfer I went and got her from the facility using my equipment I purchased as in a wheel chair and her portable oxygen and removed her from your facility. I only hope things will be better after this post cause there is good people who care there but there is a lot training and more supervision needed of staff. All anyone ever wants is to know that their loved one is being treated correctly and is safe cause we put our trust in facility’s like yours. This visit was only to help strengthen my mother so she could come home and I could only imagine what people who are long term are going through.

Upon a recent visit at the facility to see my 99-year-old aunt ,as always, I find the staff friendly and helpful. The facility is always clean housekeeping staff is doing a stellar job .The social service director Leslie is always ready to address any questions I may have. also, a recent experience with my aunt losing a piece of valuable jewelry we assumed was lost forever …however it was found by a staff member and brought to Denise the head nurse on the first floor to be put in her Lost and Found drawer. .. That to me speaks volumes of the integrity /honesty of the staff. I am grateful that my aunt is in caring, compassionate hands.

During my last visit and this one I spent over 5 hours with Ms Button. During that time, no one asked her if she needed to use the bathroom or checked to see if she needed changing. I am sympathetic to the shortage of qualified personnel however what I have seen during my visits would indicate poor care for the patient. Ms Burton is non ambulatory and a fall risk and she deserves better care.

My Mother went in there following a hospital stay. Upon arrival they put her in the locked area where the keep their dimentia/alzheimers patients. Just awful. If you can imagine people screaming they want to die, etc. Her roomate had mental issues and kept telling her what to do, mumbling to herself. Not at all an atmosphere where you can get better! My Mother and i were in tears that i had to leave her in that situation. They did move her to a more normal area upstairs in less than 2 days. Thank goodness. The nurses are on top of their meds! Very good communication between the doctors and nurses. However, theyre washers and dryers broke down and they couldn't do any laundry and they lost all her clothes! They offered us $50 for 2 missing dresses and some other personal items. They were terrible at following up with me about picking up her laundry until after i called multiple times. I would look around before choosing this spot and be sure ahead of time that if your parent does not have dementia or alzheimers that they do not put them in the same room or area. It didnt seem they had too much separation and that is like HELL to an adult who doesn't have that.. But they are nice.
