It’s clear that the entire staff at Villa of Silverbell is dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centered care. We are incredibly grateful and would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where their loved ones will be treated with dignity, respect, and kindness. Special thank to Sovial worker Betty. She is incredible.

About 4 years ago my brother had a major stroke. He is paralyzed on his RH side. He needs a good bit of attention. He gets it here. He has been here now for around 3 years. Staff is always friendly when we visit. Everyone is very nice. Everyone pretty much knows my brother and talks to him. He seems very well cared for here. We visit him weekly and have never seen any concerns. Very professional staff here.

This facility should not be trusted with vulnerable patients. My mother is paralyzed and a documented fall risk, yet staff failed to provide basic care or follow safety protocols. She was left sitting in her own feces, improperly cleaned during diaper changes, and her sores worsened. Staff yelled at her to move, knowing she physically could not. The building reeked of urine and feces, and there was feces on her curtains. Staff were often on their phones and disengaged. I was assured she would be safe. Less than an hour later, she was left alone and fell from her bed due to an ill-fitting mattress flipping. At the time of the fall, the bed was not lowered and there were no floor pads or other fall-prevention measures in place. She had to be rushed to the hospital. This place shows a shocking lack of hygiene, training, and basic human dignity. Do not leave a disabled or immobile loved one here. I know what acceptable care looks like... this was not it.

Do not take your loved one here. My dad was supposed to be here for two weeks to heal a wound on his sacrum (tailbone.) I rescued him from here after six days. He is a wheelchair bound individual and cannot move his limbs on his left side. He left the hospital to get more physical therapy and care at this nursing facility. He was told he would be turned every hour and be taken out of bed and raised up off of his wound so it could heal up more quickly. They stated he would receive more care than he would at the hospital. During his 6 day stay, he developed five new bedsores near his original wound from them refusing to turn him regularly and they even forgot to dress his original wound one day risking new infection from bowel movements. His original wound did in fact develop another infection and got worse in their "care." They wouldn't turn him on the schedule promised to him and they even told him to "roll over on your own" when he could not since he had limited mobility. They also never got him out of bed to relieve the pressure on his wound. They would allow him to sit in bowel movements for an unacceptable amount of time before cleaning him up. At one point, while I was visiting, a nurse was supposed to hook up his IV antibiotics. For some strange reason, she asked that all of the family members that were there visiting to leave the room. She left not even five minutes later and said she would be right back and returned with a more experienced nurse to help her hook the IV up. She is allegedly able to "be on her own," however, needed assistance to hook up the IV. We had all went back into the room. The experienced nurse was floored to find missing parts on the IV port my dad had placed into his arm. She also pulled unsanitary IV cords out of a drawer and set it on top of the nightstand it came out of. Another family member exclaimed that needs to be thrown away because it is unsanitary. The experienced nurse tried to hand sterile parts to the IV to the "able to be on her own" nurse but she had to be told she needed to go put gloves on. The entire building seemed to be unsanitary. The boxes of gloves were in the restroom and all torn open and hanging out. Used gloves were left on my dad's bed underneath him and on the floor and another family member who visited regularly had cleaned it up. Surfaces like the end table were dirty and seemed to never be wiped clean. The food menu was unbelievable. One meal they served him was a disgusting hotdog with a bun and some other gross sides. My dad eats a holistic diet and didn't want to eat nearly any of the food they served. There were a couple of day shift nurses that were very compassionate and took good care of my dad, but that didn't make up for the other rude and uncaring staff, especially at night. You should have empathy and compassion working in a "care" facility. If you do not have those qualities, you should not be a nurse or work in any type of care facility. I'm sure I'm forgetting other details from this 6 day nightmare my dad endured here. However, he has been back at the hospital for two weeks where they healed up the five new bedsores this facility caused and he was placed into a therapy program within the hospital and is healing and getting much better. Shame on The Villa at Silverbell. No patient in your "care" should develop NEW wounds when they came to you to get better. You need to reevaluate your staff and make sure that they understand compassion, empathy, sanitation knowledge and make sure they're even qualified to do their actual job as nurses.
