The Sylvestery at Vinson Hall Retirement Community

The Sylvestery is a memory care community in McLean, Virginia, offering round-the-clock specialized dementia care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of memory loss who remain active but require professional support. Located just across the street from the main Vinson Hall Retirement Community campus, the community is licensed as an assisted living facility with additional staff training focused on caring for residents with cognitive impairment.

The community features private suites with bedrooms and bathrooms, natural light throughout, interior courtyards, a Solarium for group meetings and activities, and Sensory Oasis Rooms designed with imagery, sounds, textures, and scents to help residents relax. All personal and common areas are specifically designed for residents with memory impairment. Care is provided by licensed and trained staff working 24/7 to support residents with daily living activities and medication management.

Residents participate in memory care-appropriate activities designed to engage people with dementia and promote joy in the present moment. The Sylvestery offers on-site beauty salon services, and residents may receive Medicare B therapy and hospice support. Residents have priority access to nursing care and inpatient rehabilitative services available at the affiliated Arleigh Burke Pavilion. Respite care stays of a minimum of 30 days are available when suites are open.

The Sylvestery is open to all community members, though preference for available suites is given to residents currently living in Vinson Hall Retirement Community. Admission begins with completion of an application form and application fee, followed by submission of required documentation.
