Nu, The Square — this is a very Lakewood-type matzav: simple, functional, and quietly doing its job without making a whole noise about itself. From the outside, it looks calm and unassuming. You would not necessarily guess much is going on inside, but that is part of the charm — no flash, just tachlis. Inside, it is set up in a clean, organized, and practical way. Not overly fancy, but definitely respectable. The kind of place where things run smoothly and people feel comfortable. It has that heimish, community feel — you walk in and it feels familiar, even if it is your first time there. No pressure, no over-the-top atmosphere, just a normal place for people to gather. Parking can depend on the situation, but when available, it makes things much easier. Otherwise, it is typical Lakewood — you manage. Now l’inyan a Shidduch date… Let’s say it like this: If someone tells you, “Let’s meet at The Square,” you might pause for a second and think, “Are we attending something… or is this the plan?” As an actual planned date location, it is not the standard choice. However, if there is an event, program, or something going on and both sides are there, it can actually work very well — natural, relaxed, and not forced. If the conversation is going well, great. If not, at least there is something happening around you. Bottom line: The Square is a clean, practical, and very heimish community space that does exactly what it is supposed to do — without any drama. You come in not expecting much… and you leave appreciating how smoothly everything runs.
