About The Springs of Chenal Health & Rehabilitation

The Springs of Chenal Health & Rehabilitation is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Little Rock, Arkansas, serving patients recovering from surgery, stroke, and other acute health events. The facility operates with a 3.8-star rating across 85 family reviews, reflecting deeply divided experiences.

Families consistently praise the physical therapy department, activity coordination, and direct care staff, CNAs, nurses, and dietary workers, as genuinely dedicated and professional. However, the majority of reviews describe serious gaps in basic care oversight: medication delays ranging from one to two-and-a-half hours, unmet dietary restrictions despite advance notice, infrequent response to call lights, and instances of neglect in personal hygiene and room cleanliness. One family reported finding their mother repeatedly in soiled conditions; another detailed equipment failures and inadequate readiness for complex medical needs like tracheostomy care. Billing disputes and discharge planning concerns also surface in multiple accounts.

A smaller group of families, primarily those with stays of one month or longer, report positive trajectories and warm staff interactions, describing the facility as attentive and family-like in approach. One reviewer wrote, "The care team assisted me in any and every way I needed," and praised low wait times. The contrast between these five-star accounts and the preponderance of one- and two-star reviews suggests outcomes may depend significantly on individual unit assignment, length of stay, or the specific care pathway.

This facility warrants careful consideration and thorough pre-placement conversations with clinical and administrative leadership about care protocols, particularly for patients with complex medical needs or short-term rehabilitation stays.

If you're wanting a dumping site that will neglect your loved one to death, this is the place! Physical therapy consisted if standing up 5 times. Waited 4 hours for shower, but patient too tired from sitting in wheelchair all day. No fresh linens; had to be hunted down. Short staffed. RNs sitting at desk playing on phone. Mutiple conversations with the higher ups and no changes noted past 24 hrs of complaints, then back to the same neglect. This IS the place to put your worst enemy!

Sspent one week here March 2023 after Surgery and was very uncomfortable the whole time.
1st: beds are like boards, hard and no way to get comfortable. Old beds that look like they were from the 1980s.
The "chef" came in at some point the first day - I told him my dietary restrictions and was assured they could be met. This was not true; the most served item on the menu for the whole week I was there was mixed peas and carrots. Hard, dry hamburger steak, no gravy, rice, peas and carrots. Ugh!!
I actually felt sorry for the Nursing Supervisor as she was obviously short handed - I don't know how many beds this facility has but I only saw two nurses PLUS the Super during the day and only one nurse with an aide during the night. There was one black male aid who was helpful however. The one time I went to the dining room for dinner, there was no one there but me! PT was OK but folks there (staff and several residents who played games all day long) were more interested in what was on TV than in helping the PT patients. Since then I have been told to stay away from any facility with "Springs" in the title - my experience says this is true. I wish the folks there well but it appears they have a lot of work to do.
