I love my apartment, the food, activities and friends I have made since I moved in. The Palace is wonderful! And is the perfect place to retire.

My review is related to customer service. I used to park in The Palace at 1 Andalusia Ave parking lot very often.<br><br>Last week, I parked there again, paid the $2 fee in the machine at the entrance, got in the car and drove towards the other machine at the exit. The machine did not read the bar code. Since there was another car behind me blowing the horn, I pressed Lost Ticket, paid $18 so that I could move out of their way. I did not see a Help button.<br><br>When I called the administration of the parking lot, the lady who answered the phone first said they were not responsible for the parking lot, then said I should have pressed the Help button, after that implied that I was lying because I had paid the $2 the bar code was working (I had to explain to her that the second machine did not read the bar code).<br><br>The manager did not come to the phone at all... first, they sent me to a voice message system, then I called back the representative was rude - put me on hold without even warning me about it...<br><br>Horrible customer service!<br><br>Finally, the manager instructed her to tell me to come by that they will give me the cash! They do not even have a system to reimburse back to the credit card!<br><br>Needless to say I will not park in their building again....

The Palace can be proud of their kind, responsive, efficient, staff at the front desk and behind the scenes. Requests and complaints are handled immediately by Executive Director Josh, Manny, and Nancy. This has been a life changer for my siblings. Our mother requires 24/7 attention and until we began to deal with the Palace, our lives were totally hijacked by the constant no-shows and incompetent schedulers.<br>We have experienced both The Belmont and The Grand and have a frame of reference for comparison. The Palace wins, hands down. If a caring staff of companions is what you or your family member needs, you will be in very good hands with Ivan, Alex, Lilly, and Flor who handle staffing and scheduling.<br><br>I wish I could give the kitchen the same review. Nope! Although breakfast is excellent and generous and the first few meals we had there were fine, the quality of the food currently being served at dinner is simply unacceptable to the point of being inedible. We are upset by the decline in quality. The dishes served are clearly reheated, limp, frozen, and tasteless. The entrees are gloppy in texture, and an insult to the residents. There is no attempt to present entrees in an appealing fashion. My siblings and I do our best to avoid eating there and take our mother out when possible. The dining room waitstaff are now made up of 14-year-old students, with the exception of Emmanuel who bends over backwards to accommodate.<br><br>I understand the food at The Palace on Kendal is excellent. Perhaps the chef there could work with the kitchen at the Coral Gables location.

My mother in law moved into the Palace and found a place of friendship and comfort. From the initial site visit to the move in and occupancy, every single person made her life meaningful and enriching. The staff are amazingly kind and helpful. They hung her pictures, set up her internet, introduced her to other residents, catered to her meal requests, took her to her doctor appointments, and so much more.<br><br>The facility is beautiful; it looks like a real Victorian Era Palace with fine art, gold filigree, fresco ceilings, live entertainment nightly. I'd have to compare it to a cruise line experience without the ship. Each night the residents can order off the regular menu or the menu of the day and can cross order from both for a customized meal. There is also a substantial Jewish clientele so The Palace caters to both Jewish and Christian holidays and customs. They have complimentary valet and tipping is not allowed anywhere.<br><br>I've never seen a more caring organization than The Palace in Coral Gables. The cost to live at the Palace isn't cheap but everything is included except for maybe some field trips.
