The New Jewish Home, University Avenue Assisted Living

The New Jewish Home's University Avenue Assisted Living Program is an assisted living community located in the Bronx, New York, offering modern, affordable housing for seniors who require care and support to maintain their independence while living in their own private apartments.

The community provides assisted living services including case management and individualized care plans, personal care assistance, and medication management under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Residents receive three restaurant-style meals daily in a spacious dining room, plus additional snacks and flavored water. On-site services include a Wellness Center, housekeeping and linen service weekly, and on-site laundry facilities.

The program features 72 studio apartments, each with a private bathroom and kitchenette. Residents enjoy WiFi and cable services, and the community offers a robust calendar of therapeutic recreation programs including monthly holiday and cultural events, as well as trips to local restaurants with transportation provided.

University Avenue Assisted Living is designed for residents 65 years old and over, though individuals 55 to 64 years old are considered based on need and availability. The program serves those in need of supportive services such as help with medications, dressing, and housekeeping. The facility is regulated by the New York State Department of Health and was developed with support from a Department of Health HEAL Grant and Community Board 7.
