As a senior living navigator, I make dozens of visits to our local communities each week. Heritage Inn stands out for some key reasons. First, it's locally owned with a long-standing team of directors and caregivers. That's rare. And beyond longevity, they do really good work. They've built a true community, and I tip my hat to this team. They are intelligent, collaborative professionals who genuinely care for others.

When we toured there everything seemed “like home” for my mom. Moved in and within 2 months I was moving mom out. Staff is not caring at all( only a few) Executive Director doesn’t address any issues with urgency if she even does at all. The management and other staff other than the medical team are all family members( unprofessional). Much of the staff is very unprofessional. Cursing, screaming down the halls, yelling , smoking marijuana ( in parking lot , in cars and behind the building where there are no cameras to be seen) We were told several people working there have fake licenses/ certificates. These are all people that shouldn’t be allowed to care for the elderly. Mom was left for 6 hours laying in her bed needing to be cleaned up because the CNA that night was mad because other employees weren’t doing there job, just sitting around doing nothing per usual in this place. She decides to take her anger out on an elderly resident. For 4 days in a row no one cleaned the shower room so as no one could be bathed. The toilet was disgusting. Feces was on floor, walls. Soiled towels and clothes piled up. The smell made you gag. The ED was notified on Friday and left early that day ( as they all do on Fridays) and never addressed it even though she knew. Finally on Tuesday some that actually cares about the residents cleaned it so showers could be given as no one had one in 4 days including my mom. I could go on and on about Heritage Inn and violations. The Ombudsman definitely needs to show up here unexpectedly. Food/Nutrition are fit to feed the residents. The portions are extremely small when it is edible. A lot of residents complain about the dining room and the quality of the food. Many are unhappy. . My mom did make some new friends that she still talks to and some of them have already left and others are going to leave. Please don’t entertain letting your loved ones living here. There’s many more that are deserving of your family. Wish I could rate no stars.

My mother in law was so excited to be here. While here everyone was so nice, helpful and friendly. Anytime I have gone in over there people have been smiling and socializing with each other. The workers are treating the patients like they would want their parents treated. I personally have had my parents and several members of my family reside in assisted living facilities in NC and throughout Virginia where I only wish I had found one this nice.

My mother was a resident at The Heritage Inn. It was the best possible place for her. It was like home away from home. They showed her so much love and respect. When I couldn't be there, I knew that she would be well taken care of. It was like she was with family there. I highly recommend The Heritage Inn for anyone looking for a place for a loved one or yourself. It's a warm, inviting place to be.

I recently toured Heritage Inn I was very impressed with the facility it was very clean and I felt very welcomed there . The owner his Admissions Director and other staff members involved were very kind and helpful helping me decide the best plan for my relative. The facility in all was beautiful and felt more like a home to my family than any other I had toured. It's in a very good location which made me comfortable also. I was totally impressed and would recommend to any family that has to make this decision for their family member. Thank you again Heritage Inn for making me more comfortable with my journey in making this decision for my family member and I was also pleased with the cost involved it's worth peace of mind having a family member in this facility
