My family and I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Hamlet Rehab and Nursing Center. Entrusting the care of my Mother to someone else is never easy, but from the moment my mom arrived, she has been treated with genuine kindness, compassion, and respect.
A very special thank you to nurses Danielle and Emily, who have been exceptionally caring, attentive, and compassionate. They consistently go above and beyond, and their warmth has brought our family so much comfort. We’d also like to recognize the countless other nurses and aides who work tirelessly every day. While we can’t name everyone individually, please know that your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.
The physical therapy department has been outstanding. Loretta and Ryan have been incredibly caring, encouraging, patient, and knowledgeable, helping my mom regain strength while always motivating her with kindness and positivity.
The recreation department deserves tremendous recognition as well. James and Kathy, along with the entire recreation team, do an amazing job keeping residents engaged, active, and social. The activities create such a positive atmosphere and truly enhance my mom’s quality of life.
A special thank you to Samantha, the Concierge Director, who is always welcoming, helpful, and genuinely invested in the residents’ well being.
And of course, we have to mention Tyra; Samantha’s therapy doodle, who is simply the sweetest!! She never fails to brighten my mom’s day and brings smiles to so many residents with her gentle, loving presence.
We’d also like to recognize Anthony from the maintenance department. He consistently goes out of his way to stop, chat with my mom, and make not only her but so many residents feel seen, valued, and special. Those small moments of kindness mean more than words can express.
We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to the two wonderful women; Mary & Lisa, who clean my mother’s room each day. They are very special, always kind, respectful, and thorough, and they take such pride in their work. Their care and attention help make my mom’s space feel comfortable, clean, and truly like home.
My mom has also been pleasantly surprised by the food and is overall very happy with the meals, which is something many families worry about when choosing a facility.
It truly takes a team to create such a caring environment, and that’s exactly what we’ve found at The Hamlet. Every department works together to make the residents feel safe, comfortable, engaged, and respected. We are incredibly grateful for the compassion, professionalism, and dedication shown by everyone there. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my mom—we appreciate all of you more than you know.
Every Team Member at the facility was wonderful with my father and the rest of my family and friends. They are very caring and attentive. They do have a lot of patience so, you will need a little patience yourself but, they do their very best to tend to their patients in a timely fashion. I found that they offered a lot of activities for the patients. They do really sweet things for the patients that are there. They are very thoughtful. They make you laugh, they speak with you with kindness, they are caring to everyone. They try to encourage you to get up out of bed and either sit outside or in the hallways or to go stroll the hallways and chat with others, if you’re able to. Rehab, is very encouraging which, is wonderful. The food seems to be nice. The facility is always clean. If you’re looking for a rehab for a family member, friend or yourself, I would highly recommend them, it is a friendly atmosphere. If you need something, management will help you out or a nurse or an aid or a team member from any of the departments they have. You’re not short on friendly faces. You always feel like they’re part of your family, if you see them all the time. They do go above and beyond for their patients.
Unfortunately, this issues I encountered did not occur in isolation, but rather as a series of compounding concerns that arose all at once.
Our experience with The Hamlet Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Nesconset, NY has deeply disappointing and heartbreaking.
Mr. Everett Thomas was admitted for stroke rehabilitation. As a facility that is state-certified to provide rehabilitation services for stroke patients, we expected a level of care that would support his recovery, preserve his dignity, and keep our family informed. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.
Throughout his stay, we were left with serious concerns regarding the quality and continuity of his care. One of the most troubling issues was learning that his Heparin therapy had been discontinued without the patient or our family being informed of the medication change or the reason for it. Communication regarding significant changes in a patient's plan of care is essential and should never be overlooked.
The emotional impact of this experience has been profound. My spouse has struggle with depression following his stay and asked me a question that no patient should never have to ask:
"What did I do wrong for the people to mistreat me?"

This is not written to seek sympathy or to exaggerate or experience. It reflects his genuine feeling after believing he was not treated with the compassion, respect, and attention he deserved during one of the most vulnerable times of his life. He deserves an explanation from the individuals entrusted with helping him recover.
Every patient deserves competent care, honest communication, and to be treated with dignity and respect. Families deserve transparency and to be included in important decisions affecting their loved one's care.
I sincerely hope no other patient has to endure this experience Everett did. My advice to anyone with a loved one in this facility is simple: remain actively involved. Visit often. Ask questions. Request explanations for changes in medications, treatment plans, and care decisions; that is your right!! If something does not seem right, continue asking until you receive a clear and complete answer. Do not all your concerns to be dismissed or deflected.
My hope is that this review encourages accountability and meaningful improvements so that future patients receive the quality of care they deserve.
The Hamlet was a great choice when searching for a rehabilitation facility for my mother. The PT/OT team are wonderful, caring and show true concern for their patients. In addition the RN & CNA staff are top notch. They are truly special and treat the patients with respect. Lastly, the Recreation Therapists add so much life and color to the daily activities for the residents. Their monthly calendar is filled with daytime and evening activities. They have great themes for celebrations and make everything fun. I’m very pleased with this facility.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care provided for my 99 year old mother at the Hamlet in Nesconset. The dedication and kindness of the staff and aides are truly commendable. Christine Hamdy is one of my mother's nurses at the Hamlet who goes above and beyond to ensure a caring , comfortable and a supportive environment. Christine and the rest of the staff which would include some really special people like Maryjoy, Elizabeth, Eunice ,Jenna and Natalie. Their attentiveness and compassion make a significant positive impact on my mom's life and the lives of all the residence. It is a privilege to witness their unwavering commitment to well-being. The facility is clean and well maintained. The Hamlet has music crafts and games to keep the residents entertained and happy. Can't say enough how much my family and I appreciate everything about the Hamlet. I'd also like to mention and thank Denise Chavez who has helped my brother and I through the medicaid process couldn't have done it without her! She is a true professional and very pleasant to work with.
