I was desperately searching for a place for my parents with their very limited budget. They were in no condition to do any of the footwork so it landed on me during a major crisis, which was incredibly stressful. After reaching out to numerous local facilities and touring the ones in the budget, I started to understand the politics and sales behind assisted living facilities (I had no idea!). It was a huge turn off as my parent's lives were on the line (literally, my dad's).

The last meeting we had was with Patrick at The Collier, and thank god for that. He is easy going but very willing to help. The process was incredibly smooth for us and we had my parents moved in within a matter of days -( unlike the first place we chose, which kept delaying their intake assessment until my dad had a fall and ended up in the hospital for weeks - and then while he was in the hospital tells me they dont know if they'll take him or not! )

Patrick never mentioned not taking my Dad - in fact, he went to the hospital to meet him and get his discharge going right away. It was a godsend for us when I was totally overwhelmed and hopeless.

Patrick also spoke to the owner and they agreed to give my parents a spacious 1-bedroom for the price we asked for (which was the $ of a studio!). It's like a little apartment with a screened in porched outside- a feature none of the others had.
My parents love the food, take part in many of the activities, and are adjusting nicely. They adore their regular caregiver Anne, and say everyone is very nice.

Patrick continues to help running around with our VA paperwork and whatever else is needed to keep everything going smoothly.

The only thing Id do differently is skip all my other tours and go straight to The Collier so I wouldn't have had all that extra stress and hassle while already in a crisis.

Thank you Patrick, Anne, Tracy, Liz, Woodland and everyone at The Collier at Naples.

I would give this place a 1 star review, with the exception of the Activities Director. My mom resided at The Collier for a total of 13 days. Now, nearly 3 months after her departure, we are still awaiting a refund due to their error in the billing process.

To spare you all time I will list the positives and negatives:

Positives:
-Activities Director was wonderful and kept my mother engaged. However, we also had a Private Duty Caregiver with my Mother to ensure that she got to all activities….even those off of the Memory Care Unit. If you don’t have someone to accompany your loved one, activities for those in memory care are more limited.

Negatives:
-Communication is terrible….across the board…unless you are saying that you are leaving.
-My mom was a resident at The Collier for almost two weeks and she was not seen by the wound care doctor…even though we were told that this would happen upon admission. When she left, she had an infection in the wound.
-Staffing ratio on the Transitions Unit is very low….and supervision is minimal.
-It took almost a week to have an APRN see her to prescribe something to help her sleep DESPITE the fact that we were told that this would be addressed immediately upon admission…and that the APRN was supposedly “always in the building”.
-Medications were not given properly and we often found some pills that had been dropped (and not noticed) on the floor.
-If not with the activities director, residents are all in the living room watching TV….sometimes programs that were potentially upsetting/distressing.
-While we had private duty care, aides would not help….even when my mother was falling. Other RESIDENTS ended up helping to get my mother’s wheelchair for our private duty caregiver.
-We followed all rules regarding 30 day notice and we were billed for an entire month after her departure, rather than the pro-rated amount. Now…nearly 3 months later we still haven’t gotten the refund that was due to THEIR error.
-The list goes on and on…..don’t waste your time or money here….and don’t leave your loved ones with cognitive change here.

My friend is very pleased with her room and all of the activities were well attended by staff and those in residence.
