An ode to my aide, Sam. Hi Sam this is Victoria. I appreciate you taking the time out to help me and your patients. I really do appreciate you a lot. Your patience and personality make me feel joy. You know how to act under pressure with a natural calmness. You stay calm and firm at the same time - I don’t know how. Your kindness and patience made my stay here enjoyable rom the very first day.

Our sister was initially brought to this Beacon facility for respite care about 6 weeks ago. Given the progression of her diagnosis of Parkinson's, she was transitioned to a permanent resident. My first impression of this facility during a tour pleasantly surprise me because I had visited other facilities in the area and had certain expectations of what I would encounter in terms of the physical environment, (cleanliness, safety and overall appearance). When I first walked into the main area, I found it to be tastefully decorated, clean and welcoming. The rooms are similarly decorated and appear bright, clean and sanitary. While I waited for my tour, I was able to observe staff and residents. What I would observe still holds true today, after six weeks. The staff were friendly but more importantly they just seemed to have an overall positive attitude in the manner they interacted with residents and with each other. I truly believe the staff is what is vital in creating a warm and comforting environment and what defines a community where one feels safe and a sense of belonging not only for our sister but for all residents. From what I have witnessed and mentioned by our sister, the administrative staff is also very hands on and makes it a point to connect with all residents, whether it's taking them outside, assisting to get them to an activity or just having a conversation to simply check-in. Our sister has had some challenging medical issues since her stay and the manner in which the staff has responded is commendable in terms of the care and support they have given her. Thank you to each and every staff member that has made this transition a bit easier for our sister and for the support you have also given to the family. We are so grateful she is at Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at Beacon.

The workers are very very strong and nice and patient. The nurses aides and the nurses... the way they work together is outstanding and I love them! Ella is a terrific and beautiful nurse, very patient and caring. We had a patient on my hall that would scream all day and night - but Ella was so patient with her anyway. They found something to take her pain AWAY. Activities here are beautiful. My favorite is bingo. Since Anjre and Christine came, we have been loving activities. When I was in therapy, it was beneficial too. They help me to get more strength in my leg. I'm an amputee and they helped me gain confidence and strength on my non amputated leg and I can confidently say i am strong now and ready to go home.

Some words about Beacon: I really like the social worker Cathy. She has helped me more than a couple of times - helping me get belongings, talking to me, and just generally being a nice person. I think Rebecca is great - I LOVE her. She doesn’t play any games and is just sweet. They make sure you get to the hospital if there are any emergencies. And they’re good with me because I can’t walk by myself. Oooo I can’t forget Bernice. She is very sweet and she makes things get done. Big thank you to the folks at taconic at beacon.

Staff is great. Sharine makes me laugh everyday. Amy has been helping me with all my appointments so I don't mess them up. Kayla has been a great physical therapist, and even though I'm done with therapy here, I have the pleasure of being here for a few more days and during that time I get to communicate with the residents and nurses of the building. Everybody makes me feel comofrtable and says hi in the hallways. Friendly place and i sleep well here. Todays corned beef was really good.
