Let me say up front, that I rarely post these types of reviews. However, based on what my mother and our family have experienced here, I am making an exception.

Recently, my mother was unexpectedly hospitalized and based on her medical condition, we knew that she was going to have to go into assisted living once she was discharged. Since my mother needed about a two to three week stay at a rehabilitation center, my wife and I had a limited window of time to find the ideal place for my mom once she left the hospital. After talking with family and conducting some on-line research, my wife and I initially identified six places to set up face to face visits.

With very little time and a strong sense of urgency, we were able to narrow our list down and identify our top two choices. After several extensive meetings with those top two residencies, we walked away knowing that without any reservation that Symphony Square Assisted Living in Bala Cynwyd would be the ideal place for my mother to become part of a family-like community where she would thrive.

From our first interactions with "Dee" Saahir (director of Sales and marketing) and Maryanne Watral (executive director), there was an instant connection. Based on our initial conversations, it was immediately evident that the healthcare and business infrastructure that was in place was well thought out and running smoothly. After multiple visits, what we really came to see and appreciate was that it wasn't just the leaders that cared deeply about the residents' well-being. It was ALL departments, (medical, nursing, care takers, activities maintenance, kitchen staff, etc. In the end, what really sold us on Symphony Square was the everyday genuine, empathetic sense of caring that the entire team of leaders and staff collectively provided for their residents. When my wife and I left from our third and final visit, we knew without second guessing, that this would be the ideal place for my mom.

When the time came, we moved Mom in and right away, everything that we initially thought about Symphony Square proved to be true. So, if you are looking for an assisted living residence that is well run, and genuinely, compassionately cares about its residents, I highly recommend that you strongly consider all that Symphony Square has to offer for you and your loved one.

Red flags and never spoke to a soul. Husband and I came to tour for a place for his uncle. We walked up and there are signs to use the service elevator. OK fine construction happens no big deal we walk into the garage and it smells like cigarettes. It was thick gagged. OK again.. It's ok. So we get on the service elevator. Get off and there is no one available. So we walk past the kitchen and see two employees. Neither looked up. Another was outside on the phone. She never looked up. She even came inside and didn't even look in the direction of the desk. By the way the desk had papers all over it and mail jammed into binders behind it. Not very organized. The residents spoke but obviously weren't in a way to help. The staff that was present never greeted us. I walked through the dining room and the library NOTHING. And they saw us.
So I tell my husband let's not waste more of our time because this is probably the level of care our loved one will have. If there's no one to greet and Noone helping and ANYONE can just walk up and in.... This is what we should expect. Oh I'm sorry a man did stop us as we were leaving... Mind you he was watching TV in a side room and we thought he was a resident cause he NEVER got up when we walked in nor when we were standing around looking for someone. As we were walking out he comes out and says can he help us. I told him no and he did not protest or ask any questions.. Just alright and went back to his show. We had been at the desk for over 9 mins (I looked at my phone and saw the time). We would have no idea if this is a good place for our loved one or not. We got back into the car and left to see another facility. Incredibly disappointed.

Message to owners:if you'd like to chat you need to provide an email or number. This is a public forum I'm not giving my info out in a review.
