My mother was at Sunrise Basking Ridge memory care for a year and a half. The staff had no proper training and often didn’t interact at all with families or their interactions were upsetting and inappropriate. The turnover was constant. The executive directors had no understanding of the enormous grief that comes with watching a family member disappear before your eyes. I was told incorrect information about my mother’s condition and the reaction from staff caused us to remove my mother asap. When I arrived to move my mother my husband was recovering from surgery and I asked if someone could help me move my mom into our car. We were told that that is not policy and they refused to help us in any way. My mother is 101 and my 73 year old husband has MS . I find it hard to believe no one could help us. As we arrived at her new home we were greeted and told they would take care of everything as they lifted her out of my car into her wheel chair. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I don’t expect perfection but I expected to find common courtesy and compassion. Unfortunately they sorely lack in both those areas. There is nothing good I can say except we are in a much better facility in West Orange Nj. I feel like my mother are our family found her forever home.
