The aides are really good. They helped my mother numerous ways. And would even take her on walks in her wheelchair around the campus. But the administration is awful. They have a plan where you can choose your breakfast. But they don't make what you choose. They just give you what they want to give you. And one day they didn't even give my mother breakfast at all. When I found out I pointed it out to the admin Amy, and her response was that isn't my job. So that's the kind of people you're dealing with. Make sure you stay on top of them and double check your family who are in there if it's the only place you can find to put them

My mother has been a resident at this facility for nearly three almost 4 years. She is in early stages of dementia, & I live in South Carolina and rely entirely on your staff to ensure her safety and to communicate with me when I cannot be there in person. What recently occurred is unacceptable. I was unable to reach my mother by phone for an entire day. I then received a call from SunPorch, answered immediately, and no one spoke. I repeatedly asked if my mother was okay and was ignored. After several moments, someone finally spoke, sounding extremely disoriented, slowly said they had the wrong number, and hung up. I attempted to call SunPorch back multiple times with no answer and called my mother four more times with no response. Given the lack of communication and the concern of the call, I made the decision to call Dodge City Police to perform a welfare check. This is the second time I’ve heard this same person’s voice, and I still don’t know who made that call. If it was a staff member or another resident, and that concerns me. I shouldn't have to wonder who is calling me from my mother’s nursing home. This is something that needs to be taken seriously and addressed.

Provided the best care. The staff are gracious and very caring. I couldn't find anything bad. You can tell they work very hard for the people they are caring for. The building is older but it is clean and their activity program is top notch!! I would recommend Sunporch to everyone who might have someone needing a home. I wouldn't hesitate to have another family member come in. Really, don't let the older building stop you. It is what is going on inside that counts!

My dad needed to go to this facility after a stoke/seizure incident and when his seizures worsened and his primary care doctor wouldn't address them, the staff at SunPorch reached out and fought for a second opinion to help get his seizures under control (thanks Skyla!). This simple act likely saved my dad's life and I could not be more grateful to the nursing staff here for that. If you are looking for a home for a loved one where the staff will care deeply about their quality of life, SunPorch is the place to go. Their facility is also clean and well-cared for -- like another reviewer said, they do an excellent job with the funding level they receive.
