About Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center

Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Center is a nursing and rehabilitation center located in Raleigh, North Carolina, offering both short-term and long-term inpatient care.

Patients who have been hospitalized for a minimum of three nights may qualify for a short-term stay at the center to receive 24-hour nursing care along with physical, occupational, and speech therapy up to seven days a week. The center also accommodates short-term respite in-patient stays ranging from a few days to several months.

For those requiring a permanent in-patient stay, admission can be arranged from a hospital, an assisted living facility, or directly from home, following an admission order from the patient's primary physician.

The center has added specialty clinical programs designed to better serve patients, including additional staff training and education on specialized equipment and treatment programming intended to enhance recovery times. A dedicated Recovery Program supports individuals who were diagnosed with COVID-19, required hospitalization, and are now in the recovery phase, helping them return to their prior level of function in a supportive environment.

Do not leave your loved one here. Sunnybrook is disgusting, unsanitary, and some residents are truly neglected. Cockroaches on the floors, even the eating tray tables are left covered in dried food and never wiped down. Clogged plumbing left for weeks, gross bathrooms. Every time I visit, "care givers" have left a mess of supplies all over my loved one's small side table and move around all of their personal belongings without even asking, and then my loved one can't find their items. Every time I go in there, I have to clean up and put their belongings back in place, so that they are reachable. Residents wait ENTIRELY too long to be "changed" and have to sit in their own excrements. I show up and my loved one is wearing clothes that aren't even theirs! No blanket. They even gave my loved one food they are ALLERGIC to! Thank God I was there that day to ensure they didn't eat it! The final straw was when my loved one told me that they don't get a shower each week! There are some kind nurses, but this place is far from what the website displays. It absolutely blows my mind that this place has any positive reviews.

I’m sorry that it’s taken me so long to write a review! I’ve been in the hospital a couple of times since I left Sunnybrook on March 6. The absolute best therapy department ever! The physical and occupational therapists made me work 5 days per week and wouldn’t take no for an answer when I was tired.🤭. They would make sure that I didn’t overdo it if I was in pain. Office personnel were helpful and the social worker was great! I don’t have any thing to say on the negative side except make sure you keep a close eye on what your medications are. Housekeeping and maintenance as well as dietary were good as well.

My 91 year old Mom was at Sunnybrook for Rehab after a stay at Wake Med. We found the entire staff caring, friendly, and attentive to the needs of the patients. Mom made several friends there and loved the food.

My family’s experience at Sunnybrook was nothing short of amazing. My mom suffered a fall and has to stay at the facility for about 5 weeks for rehab services. I was absolutely terrified to leave her anywhere for that long as I was sure she wouldn’t be taken care of the same way I could. But I also didn’t have the means to supply any type of PT/OT. Needless to say, from the very first day, we were greeted by her nurse (Sue) who was absolutely fabulous. She was so welcoming and knowledgeable. She handled every concern we had with a smile on her face and assured us that my mom’s stay would be safe and successful. She was thorough in explaining how everything worked and what we had to expect during the stay. My mom is constantly calling me to tell me how much she loves Sue and looks forward to the morning shifts so she can see her. I would also like to point out the facilities cleanliness and hospitality, both wonderful. The only negative things I can find to say is that the food could be of better quality and they can do a better job at keeping the building cooled down especially during the hot months approaching.

Bring your parents here if you want them to die. Everyone is awful. The nurses are a joke and the administration is even worse. The gray haired lady in the admin office is the most disrespectful and not sympathetic at all she’s literally the worst. They take no responsibility for anything they do wrong and gaslight you into making it about you. BEWARE! Strongly recommend you look elsewhere because your family member will die here. They just stand around and let it happen. The worst of the worst. This place should be shut down. Elder abuse and negligence is just part of the deal if you choose to have a family member here. Look elsewhere.
