Do not move here. For the price of these apartments, it is absolutely not worth it, and do not let the fact that the building has a pool suck you in. My first 8 months were great, then it was one issue after the next. Staff is not helpful and will tell you to your face that they cannot help you. A multitude of issues persisted during my time in this building (2 years), and multiple things are constantly broken throughout the building, including equipment in the gym, the elevators, the front doors that get stuck and cannot open, and bolts falling out from the roof of the entryway. You can inform them about any of these issues as much as you want to, and if you are lucky, they might address it, only for it to break again a few days later. I also had multiple floods in the span of just 3 months, and one was so bad that they had to tear the bottom of the wall out and left it open for 2 weeks. I was breathing in mold from the wall opening, bugs crawled out, and since I was in a studio, I could barely be in/move around my space at all and felt like there was zero sense of urgency to help me. This is not a building where you get what you pay for.

Update: glad to see over 1,000 people have viewed this review; hope the word gets out.<br><br>BEWARE OF THE STERLING --> I will be updating this review with new information on a rolling basis.<br><br>In my one year at the sterling, I:<br><br>- Had CONSTANT cockroach infestations. It was so bad that the sterling moved me into a different unit. I had an even worse infestation in the second unit;<br>- Had hazardous MOLD in the unit; and<br>- Am personally aware of multiple other tenants with the same problems, including families with children that had to vacate due to hazardous conditions.<br><br>The sterling has the most incompetent staff I have ever encountered, who refuse to fix anything, take no responsibility, operate premises under unlawful conditions, and operate by practices of lying and predatory tactics toward prospective and existing tenants.<br><br>By no means move in here. It is a hazard to your health and property. The property should be condemned and the management staff should not hold positions responsible for the wellbeing of others.<br><br>I will continue to provide further information and pictures.<br><br>Beware of fake positive reviews on google.<br><br>/2<br>Despite what the response below falsely states, the sterling took WEEKS to respond to mold complaints. When they came, rather than calling professionals, they wiped away black mold with a paper towel. Sterling was unresponsive to mold issues, and when they came, they mishandled entirely. Attaching more pictures of mold. Sterling management continues to lie in its responses to my review.<br><br>/3<br><br>More details! The cockroach problem was so bad that the sterling moved me into a second unit (which also had cockroaches). In between the two units, the sterling told me to get a hotel and promised to pay for it. Then, they refused to pay, pretended like our written agreement didn’t exist, and blocked my phone calls. That’s the kind of people you are dealing with at AIR Communities.

Do not come here. Don’t even try to live here.<br><br>The AC will be down an average of 2 days each month. When the building changes from heating to cooling, you will suffer a minimum of 2 weeks in poor temperature. There is no rhyme or reason to the AC switch. You will have random, unexplained maintenance inspections. There is no individual metering so you will be paying for your neighbors’ bills. You also live in an incredibly old building with poor insulation, so your gas bill will be incredibly high for the space you live in. The doors are poorly sealed and you will hear the breath of every person walking past your apartment. The in-unit dryers are not attached to any ventilation system, so it will be piping all of your dryer air back into your apartment. The humidity reaches 90% during the summer and fall. You need a dehumidifier to prevent mold and health consequences. The food delivery drop off area is poorly managed and you will be grabbing your food with flies buzzing around forgotten pickups. When you move out, prepare to not receive your security deposit back because they will fill your contract with enough fees to eat it up.<br><br>You can find cheaper rates elsewhere. Given your utility bill and rent bump they will try to force for your renewal, prepare to pay ~20-30% extra on your existing rent across 2-3 years. The location is also horrible for the price. You can find better areas, just keep searching.

Move in team, especially John at the concierge desk, was very helpful. Everyone was very responsive and accommodating, and they made the experience of moving in feel as seamless as it could be!

UPDATE: The management team was completely unhelpful after reaching out them through the email below. They also posted a fake 5 star review immediately after I posted this. Do yourself a favor and avoid living at the Sterling.<br><br>We lived at The Sterling (managed by AIR Communities) for two years during business school. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere. What follows is not an exhaustive list, but it is enough. These are the issues we dealt with firsthand over 24 months.<br><br>Health and Safety<br>- Mold was present in the unit upon move-in<br>- Cockroaches and rats were a recurring issue on the first floor<br>- A pipe burst in a neighboring unit flooded ours, a foreseeable infrastructure failure management did nothing to prevent<br>- The gym had a portion of its ceiling collapse and sat in disrepair for an extended period<br><br>The True Cost of Rent<br>- Utilities run ~$500/month on top of advertised rent, a number you will not hear upfront<br>- Security deposits are not returned<br>- Package storage carries an additional fee<br><br>Building Operations<br>- Over a dozen false fire alarms across two years<br>- At least one elevator out of service at all times<br>- No ability to control the temperature in your own unit<br>- You'll always hear your neighbors above you because the floors and walls are paper thin<br>- Maintenance team is helpful but management never gives them the proper information so they never come on time or with the right context<br>- The building entrance consistently smells of dog urine<br><br>AIR Communities and Sterling Management has had ample time to address these issues and has chosen not to. That tells you everything you need to know.
