We had a bad experience at our first assisted living facility with my our mother. She was given the wrong medications twice resulting in two emergency room visits. We visited almost every other facility in Williamsburg. We ultimately chose Spring Arbor as we felt they had the best ratio of staff to residents as well as a high caliber employees with good protocols in place. Our mother was here for 4 years and we highly recommend it to everyone we speak with. The staff has become our friends as well as gaining our complete trust and confidence in dealing with our mother in good times and bad. We always felt they had her best interest at heart regardless of the situation. From kitchen staff to aids to the desk personnel, every position was filled with competent caring people, especially her main nurse Nikki. Thank you from the Cothren family

I recently visited my aunt and was impressed at the cleanliness of the facility. There were no smells of urine and everything appears to be well maintained. They were having an emergency on one of the wings but were well staffed to divide and conquer. The directors were out helping the patients, moving furniture around, and talking to the repairmen, which I was surprised to see. The way they kept things calm while also navigating such an intense situation was impressive. I was most impressed by the nurse Nicky.

I am the legal representative for a current resident and former representative for 2 others who reside/did reside (before death or move to nursing home skilled care) at Spring Arbor. I also have several personal friends who live and have lived there. While I am aware that individual experiences can differ, I cannot agree with certain reviews I have seen here. The broad experience I have had in differing circumstances at Spring Arbor has been professional, positive, and compassionate.

As a professional guardian advocate with more than a decade of experience in practice coupled with medical background, I zeroed in on Spring Arbor Senior Living Williamsburg for a number of reasons:
smaller size
NOT owned by a large corporation
Clean and smell-free facility
Wide variety of activities
Many services available on site
Caring, well-trained care staff and fully engaged administration
Adherence to regulation and practice standards
Varied living space choices
Decent menu options
Flexibility of care options

I choose this community based on my professional observations, as well as high recommendations from people I know who lived there or have/had family there. Every one of those residents was/is well cared for and attended to. I have not yet been left with unanswered questions.

This kind of work is not for everyone, and I have seen many who are ill-suited to this work in other places. Not here.

There’s always something dirty on the floor. The floor is always a mess. So recently had to have my dad hospitalized because they’re not taking good care of him. The staff admitted they were ignoring his symptoms of a bladder infection.

He feet had swollen up so bad the EMTs had to come, and then The Employees blocked the door and refused to let the EMTs leave with our father. My sister had to show up and demand they let him go with the EMTs.
Our father has told us that they do not give him his medication. We are very concerned. I had to call the police twice for well checks because when I called the phone number listed online at Spring Arobor one time they answered and the second time they acted like it was the wrong number and hung up on me. If you care about your love one, please don’t go to this facility.

The Three employees working last night when I was there with the police said they just don’t have enough staff, and the nurse only has one hour to pass out all the medication’s could be why my father doesn’t get his. The staff was very rude to me non-concerning never talk to my father in person the hours I was there with the police.

Some of the staff are not pleasant and do not behave professional. The Director says she doesn't get involved with/in "Family Dynamics" but her actions prove otherwise. She does not make herself available when you want to report the staff doing something wrong. They do not have qualified, licensed medical staff in the building, and the "med techs" are there just to pass medication and don't really pay attention to your loved one or recognize when they have a medical emergency going on. Then when you intervene on your loved one's be half to get them the medical treatment they desperately needed, they band you from their property don't let you see your loved one again. Now the police, lawyers, and adult protective services are involved. It's absolutely ridiculous and insane that we have to go through all of this just because I got the medical care for my Father that he desperately needed. If you love your family member, and want to be able to see & spend time with them, DON'T PUT THEM IN SPRING ARBOR!!
