“I recently moved my mother and her husband into assisted living at Brookdale. Not only is the facility beautiful, and the food delicious, but the staff and management has gone above and beyond to accommodate my family’s needs. I’m very grateful for their willingness to work with me through some challenging situations.”
“Leenay and Shay were able to get my father to shower with them present, which is a huge step for him. They both were so thoughtful kind, and made it so enjoyable for him. He’s looking forward to his next one which we could never have guessed would happen!!! Thank you both!!!”
“Dominion Village has taken excellent care of our loved one. The staff treat the residents like family. They treat the families like their own as well and show alot of empathy. They allow the residents to live with dignity and provide safety and security daily as well as enrichment and quality interactions.”

How families pay for memory care in Virginia
Most families in Virginia start by looking at what they already have: savings, retirement income, and often the proceeds from selling a house. Long-term care insurance, when a parent purchased a policy years ago, can also help cover the monthly cost of assisted living, memory care, or independent living. It's worth reading the policy closely, since some only pay after a waiting period or require a certain level of care need before benefits kick in.

About these figures
Computed on October 22, 2026 from the 7 communities listed in Williamsburg, 315 public family reviews on Google, Yelp and MyLivingChoice, state licensing records and, for nursing homes, CMS Care Compare. The best-rated list ranks communities by average family rating weighted by how many families have reviewed each one, so a 4.9 from three reviews does not outrank a 4.7 from two hundred. No community pays to appear in the best-rated list or in these figures; sponsored and partner listings in the directory results are marked as such. Figures refresh as listings and reviews change; the written summary was last revised September 25, 2026.
