The old bad comments have not changed this places attitude in how they conduct business and treat their customers. I have a family friend who stays here (unfortunately as I wish their family would take her out of this dump)…but if you have family here, you better pay CLOSE attention to how things are being conducted. They make their maintenance MALE workers care for your family. Meaning if they fall, need help, need ANYTHING, they make maintenance attend to them instead of actual licensed nurses!!! Imagine your family member having issues & gets mistreated/mishandled by someone who isn’t trained in the role they’re in!!?? And you not know anything about it!!! Absolutely disgusting & such horrible practices that this place should be shut down or seriously evaluated! I am sure they are breaking many laws. They also still have the same, disrespectful employees working here too. As mentioned on other comments, they anre extremely unprofessional and this last comment was posted 5 years ago. If they allow the receptionist, and everyone else to treat their paying customers and guests any type of way, I can only imagine how much worse the higher ups are. Clearly this place could care less about their customers feedback & experiences! To pay so much money to stay at this place which is of course big and beautiful, but to run it in such way is outright wrong.

The place it’s self is beautiful but the associates are horrible. The person you first come in contact with should be nice and pleasant, but I walked in around 11:30am and I’m not sure of her name but she is not pleasant at all. I think Tammy??? Tall, with glasses and a long ponytail! She first of all look unprofessional and dirty. Coming into such a beautiful place like Southminister your receptionist should be professional dressed. I turned around because I will not have my family pay money for service like this.

Great place with plenty of activities and friendly staff. Always updating and renovating it also. The quality of the food has gone up. Prices are not for the faint of heart so it will be out of my price range when i retire but if u saved and planned or just got lucky on the lotto and are now looking to relax and enjoy your retirement in a community rather than a home, then southminster is definitely a option you should consider.

I recently had dinner with a relative at Southminster--we were dining in his apartment but ordering from the Bistro. We ordered right at 5pm to beat the evening rush but after over an hour, called down to see what had happened. We were told rather abruptly that they were "working on it." When dinner arrived it was of such poor quality we threw it away. The sweet potato salad was tasteless, the "Parisian carrots" and stuffed peppers obviously came from the freezer. What has happened to the food?! Why don't the vegetables come from the in-house garden? We are not the only patrons and family members who have noticed the drastic drop in food and overall quality. Southminster used to be much better in many ways. Now my relative and other residents are often disappointed at the caliber of services. They definitely have the impression it is grossly understaffed and that the "bottom line" has unfortunately become king. It is a shame because Southminster was once among the best of Charlotte's retirement communities.

My parents moved to Southminster four years ago. My father died two years ago and my mother, age 93, is still there in an apartment. The healthcare is outstanding. When we have had trips to the ER, there was a room waiting in healthcare for however long we needed. The staff, always a phone call away. I have often wanted someone to check on my mother, a phone call gets someone to her apt day or night. There are many options for therapy, classes and scheduled home visits when necessary. My mom has lots of friends there and enjoys many of the social activities. The dining areas have super friendly and accommodating staff. The grounds are beautiful and the facility is well located in south Charlotte!
