This 1 star is for ownership. This place is understaffed and the employees and the patients deserve better. 1 person can be in charge of 30 people or more. It isn't physically possible for the staff to tend to everyone's needs in a timely manner without MORE STAFF. Shame on our government for their lack of healthcare support and shame on ownership if they are in any way taking a profit over staffing well or paying well.

I have mixed feelings about South River Rehab. There are definitely some employees who are caring, friendly, and do their best, but our experience also showed some serious areas that need improvement. My biggest concern was the lack of urgency when my mom’s health started declining. She repeatedly told staff that she needed help and wanted to see a doctor, but she was reassured that she was fine. Her concerns were often blamed on anxiety instead of being fully investigated. Over the holiday weekend, we struggled to get the attention and medical support we felt she needed. Eventually, we had no choice but to call 911 because her condition was clearly not improving. She was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia. I appreciate the staff members who were kind to my mom, but a rehab facility needs to do more than provide basic care. Patients need to feel heard, and families need confidence that changes in their loved one’s condition will be taken seriously.

This facility is TERRIBLE! From the occupational therapist having absolutely no compassion for the patients. To the nurses being very rude to the patients. The communication amongst the staff is terrible. My brother has been at this facility for a while and there are no results. NO ONE seems to care about what’s in the best interest of the patient. Along with sending patients home prematurely. If anything happens to my brother, my family and I will be suing this facility.

My mother went in Friday afternoon an hour and a half later I had A confrontation with a nurse who was doing an assessment with another nurse on my mom they were talking in their own language. I was very polite and asked them if they could fill me in on what’s going on because I’m not understanding them. She is very rude and loud with me told me I didn’t need to be there and I didn’t need to know what they were doing. I called a bid director she assured me this won’t happen again that night they put my mom on a BiPAP. My mom stated that it wasn’t working right, but she would keep trying. She did fall asleep. I went home found out that Mom was not on the BiPAP all night because it wasn’t working. I stress how important it is to get a BiPAP on her now that works so now it’s the next day before they were able to get a working BiPAP. It have been 24 hours since my mother had been off one during this time I had asked to please transfer my mother back to the hospital where there will be serious health issues now it’s Sunday. I asked with my mother giving her Lasix. She’s swelling. They stated I don’t know. A nurse was given her a breathing treatment. I stated the mist vapor is not coming through the tubing. She got loud and said I got this new one for her personally and walked out I checked my mom‘s oxygen myself. It was at 78% got a different nurse. We got her stable. I requested for her to be transferred back to the hospital. These are only a few things that have happened there I have now this guilt of even sending my mom there don’t make the same mistake as I did now she has fluid in her lungs because she didn’t have the Lasik or the BiPAP machine.

I was transferred from University of MD Mid Town Hospital to South River. Strictly for physical rehabilitation. What a joke. I couldn't walk because Mid Town Hospital had me stay in bed too long. I lost the ability to walk. I was told I would get physical therapy 4 times a week. I was in there close to a month and had physical therapy 5 times. (The physical therapy team that came in were wonderful when they came in) From the first day they started messing with my blood pressure medication. I even had my primary doctor call them. South River will do what they want. Endless wait times to be taken to the bathroom because I couldn't walk. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and ended up with a UTI which can turn into septic with a comprised immune system. After a week they finally took a urine sample. The last straw was when I waited for 45 minutes for someone to take me to the rest room and I couldn't wait any longer. (They put depends on everyone) Finally when the attendant came in she was not happy I needed a new depends. She was yelling and knocked over my water on my tray. That was it! This was just one of many things wrong about the way they treat people. I shared a room with an older lady and when they were nasty with her I spoke up. I finally told them I want to be transparent out to a hospital. Thank goodness I went to Annapolis General. I had more physical therapy at Annapolis General. By the way the pictures you see on the website is the nice part of the building. The area I stayed was dark and dirty. If you have family here, please keep an eye on them.
