Moved mom into Solstice Senior Living in Lee's Summit Missouri in Feb 2026. Felt it would be a good fit for her: cook all meals for her, provide transportation to Dr's appts within 15 miles of building, and extra support when needed (housekeeper to come once a week). More support offered at an additional fee per service charge. Free on-site laundry room, restaurant style dining for meals, or take a to-go box meal back to your room.
Well, at $3,100 per month (plus $3,000 non-refundable deposit) we hoped it would be the experience she paid for, however we were sadly mistaken. Where to begin......
After moving mom in we are told transportation is only offered to dr appts on Tues-Thur 10am-2pm. Mom has over 10+ drs, and this wouldnt cover just her own appts ,let alone anyone elses in the building. Only one cook prepared food worth eating, and serving portions are barely big enough for toddlers. If you have visitors they will now be charged $15 per person to eat with you. If you brought your meal back to your apt, they charged you $4 each time. Meals take over an hr every time by the time you find a seat, get your order taken, recieve, and then eat your meals. The laundry rooms only offered 2 washers and 2 dryers per wing with approximately 10-15 apts. Laundry was difficult to be able to find times when it wasnt being used, unless you dont mind doing laundry in the middle of the night. Staff turnover is a real struggle. There were weeks when there was no housekeeper to come into my mother's apt at all. After 3 months of living there, my mother had enough and put in her month notice to vacate. Would have liked to speak to a manager, however they didnt have one at the time per staff report.
We had a rental pod delivered and wanted it to be parked 20 ft from her 1st floor apt patio door. Apt building maintenance man wouldnt allow us to have it parked there, even after speaking with regional director Tasha. So we were forced to have it parked completely across the compass. Took us 3 days to drag all her belongings through the entire first floor in front of everyone to get it to the pod. Solstice you have let our entire family down, even worse you let down my grieving mother. Be cautious if you choose to have your loved ones move into Lees Summit Solstice Senior Living. #WhatACompleteWasteOfTime

I lived here for almost 4 yrs and for the most part my husband and I were happy here. The food service is the biggest problem that has been going on the entire time. Now they don’t even have a real chef in charge of the kitchen. Since Provencial bought them, the menus are provided by the corporation and they are worse than when our own “chef” prepared the menus. Housekeeping is another problem. They hire housekeepers but they also have the duty of serving in the restaurant. Most don’t like this, but it is corporate policy. So they are always short of housekeepers. I went as long as 3 weeks without one to “clean” my house. Their cleaning consists of cleaning the toilets and sinks, vacuuming the carpets and mopping the hardwood floors. Nothing else done unless you ask and every time I did ask for something else, the employee was willing, but never had the time because they had to serve in the dining room after they finished cleaning and they just had a small amount of time for each place. When I came, Jill was the ED and things seemed to rum smoothly. But something happened and the whole administrative staff was fired. They have gone through 2 ED’s and are looking now. The Business office manager, Stacy, does a very good job of keeping things running as smoothly as possible.
The price increases every year are pretty steep, around $250/ yr.
And they cut out some things like toilet paper and trash bags that used to be provided and the residents now have to buy. The activities are sparse and not well attended. The director doesn’t have the imagination that the previous well-liked director did, so unfortunately the new one is compared to the old good one.
Overall, Solstice is a nice place to live as long as these problems don’t bother you. The price is expensive, which is why I had to leave, but I would guess that they are in line with other similar facilities.
The people are nice and I do miss my friends. It is easy to make friends in a place like Solstice compared to apartments, but I just couldn’t pay over twice what I am paying for a very nice 2 bedroom 2bath apt in downtown Lee’s Summit. I do have to pay utilities and for food, but I will still save $2000. a month by living here.

BEWARE!!! My first review (below) was from when Phillip and PJ ran the facility. Now, under the new mangement...I wouldn't let my worst enemy move in to this place. The management is the worst...if there is even mangement. We moved my Dad out of this place over a year ago and after moving him out, we found out that the current management gave him a bad review to his new place. They claimed they had to give him a thirty day notice. He never got a notice. They never had a problem with him the entire four years he lived there until AFTER he told them he was leaving and told them that he was leaving because he wasn't happy there anymore. This place ended up being more of a depressive feeling assisted living facility with horrible food (menus were never correct and always late) and lacked the staff that was needed to accomodate the facility and residents. When we moved my Dad out, a lot of other resident's family members were there and said they were moving their parents or loved ones out also. Management would scream at staff and a few residents in front of us. I would call and ask questions about concerns my Dad had and they would literally scold me over the phone. If you care about your loved ones, please choose another facility. This place is just nothing but cruelty and neglect.

----------------‐-----------------------------------------

(4yrs ago) My Dad lives here and my brother and I met him for lunch one afternoon. The food was great. So much food. The lunch service was wonderful. The director and his wife are amazing people.
