We recently moved our loved one from senior housing to Sinking Springs Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as her dementia and anxiety progressed. The facility is warm and welcoming, but what matters most is the caring staff, who keep her engaged, reduce her stress, and help her remain as independent as possible while ensuring her safety. We especially appreciate Director Loos-Meyers and the staff for keeping our family informed and involved in her care. Knowing the facility also accepts Medicaid should that be needed, was an important factor in our decision.

My wife is a patient and when I visited her on several occasions she was in tears. She has waited for an hour for pain medication and to even use the bedpan. In addition I served my dogs more appetizing looking foods then what is served here (my wife added the dog food probably tasted better).

The therapists for Occupational and Physical Therapy are great to work with and try to make therapy fun. They use balloons, cards and other items to help with movement and strength training. The therapists are very patient and knowledgeable in body mechanics. I am very pleased with my progress in therapy. I found that some of the nurses and aides were very kind and supportive (Sue, Maddy, Cindy and Dylan) and some others were just there for their paycheck and took a long time to answer the bells for assistance. I was non weight bearing and needed help to move around. I also had a few instances where I needed pain medication and it took over an hour to receive from the nurse. The food leaves a lot to be desired. The vegetables are over cooked and they tend to put gravy (salty) on all of the meat and mashed potatoes. They don’t usually serve fresh fruit, most of the fruit is canned. There’s limited options for alternative choices if you don’t like the menu choices.

I was very disappointed. On first sight, my husband wad wearing any socks. Socks were provided in his bag that I packed his clothes in. I could smell an order of bad odordor When I changed & bathed him, there was dried poop stuck to his butt, especially under his testicles. He was very sore & the skin was irritated. There is no excuse for this to happen. I tried to send a note of changes to his care. One of the EMT's grabbed & disposed of it. One of those changes was that he was permitted to drink water anytime he pleased. It was clear that he wasn't given any water, due to small amount of urine that was in the urine bag. & That he had very bad breath.

I am not going to run the risk of unintentionally forgetting to give a shout out to someone who was / is instrumental in my recovery from my surgery. EVERYONE was so nice and knowledgeable about their role / job in the facility. There are some who I would love to thank more than others, but I feel like each person put forth their best efforts. The PT / OT department were / ARE great. Taking care of not only my main reason for being there, but also being mindful of the other issues that I have been trying to remedy. Overall I will give the staff and their services a 15 out of 10 (that's right. ABOVE AND BEYOND).
