We recently moved my mother into Phoebe Berks and everyone from the sales team to the maintenance staff has been so kind and helpful that it made what could have been a difficult situation into something quite pleasant for my mom. I have confidence that she is being well-taken care of and that means so much since I can’t be with her. I really appreciate the care that the staff puts into every aspect of this assisted living facility.

As an INDEPENDENT resident, I've enjoyed living in my spacious apartment. My husband and I moved here in 2012. Our lives remain much the same as living in our single home in Myerstown. Our privacy is the same: we come and go as before with no accountability to anyone. We can choose to mingle with others or be completely on our own, staying up as late as we wish, leave the apartment to return in wee morning ours. The apartments are soundproof. Never do we hear others above, below or sides. When I play my piano, the neighbors do not hear me.

There were three other apartments we checked at other facilities. Phoebe has many more positive points. Apartments have double hung windows providing lots of light, a balcony with sliding doors.

When we moved, we both were healthy but knew one day there would only be one of us. That day came 4 years later when my husband passed in 2016. I didn't have to sell our home and was acclimated with Phoebe. So, I've been here 14 years total so far.

Phoebe provides independent residents everything free with our monthly "rent" ----- heat, air conditioning, garbage collection, all appliances, replacement or repair of appliances, fire extinguishers, bi-weekly cleaning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, air filters/duct cleaning.

The community center has a library, swimming pool, exercise machines for a one-time purchase of key, daytime and evening entertainment by outside qualified individuals/groups, activities to do, church services, Peddlers' Shop, and so much more that happens on the campus. Physical therapy department, movie theater, bank, hair dresser, game room are available here.

Also, we have meals with menu choices and receive free "dining dollars" to use.
We have a dining room, coffee shop, and pub. There is a wellness center providing us medical care by registered nurses when needed. Garden plots and a shed with tools allow you to grow your own food or flowers.

Bottom line is: My life has always been a good one. Here my family has peace of mind that help is always available. They don't have to take care of my yard, home repairs, provide food, or worry about my well-being. Life is equal or better here (except I don't have a garage ...the only negative!).

I like being at Phoebe. The staff are excellent and they care about their work. I love that my car is shoveled out in the winter and that I will never need a snow shovel again! Spring , summer and fall the grounds are beautifully maintained with blooming trees, colorful flowers snd handsome shrubs. The food is quite good and the quantities are very large! Phoebe is a great place to live!
