The shadow side of my mere mortal self wanted to keep this gem a secret so my loved ones could get in more easily if/when they ever needed it. However, my light/spiritual side knows better and understands the spiritual principle, ‘You get back what you put out.’ So let me try to put into words what a healing haven this amazing facility is… My precious sister recently fell incurring very serious fractures in her right leg/ankle (which required surgery). She also has other medical issues making her a more complex patient. None of this was too much for this very adept, professional staff and my sister is recovering, blossoming actually, from their care. This google review would become a tome if I mentioned by name all the incredible staff that have made such a positive difference in my sister’s and my life (peace knowing she’s cared for so well). I’m going to to mention a few anyway (the rest of you please forgive my attempted brevity here and know that we love you and many prayers and blessings are coming your way too) - nurses April, Kristina, Priscilla, Levy; aides Rommel, Shirley, Jamie, Sarah; PT/OTs Jovin, Jim, Richard, Kristen, Jennifer. Housekeepers, kitchen staff, the enrichment crew, Aldo in maintenance, the gals in Social Work, the DON, the Administrator, all, truly all, pitch in and put the patients/residents first, treating them with compassion, respect, kindness, and optimal care. I learned a term in college (I’m a RN and Social Worker of many moons) which I love to this day - it’s ‘sine qua non.’ It means an indispensable element, an essential thing, something cannot be without this - which is so applicable to the healing and rehabilitation provided by this facility and it’s extraordinary staff.

Should not be rated 5 stars! Allowed 94 yr old to languish in bed and get a bleeding bed sore. Didn't shower her for weeks. Didn't brush her teeth or take care of personal hygiene. Dr Jande was a ghost. They put 2 Covid patients in her room before they were tested for all the coughing they were doing! We had 17 complaints that we sent to the State of Michigan. They were investigated. Was so glad to get her out of there! Should be rated 0 stars!

My dad had many stay's at both Shelby and Orchard Grove. This last attempt at physical therapy he choose Shelby Crossing as he liked it there best. Unfortunately he ended up in hospice due to health issues and my family and I cannot say enough words to express our sincere gratefulness to the staff that handle all his health issues, but also the Executive director. The health care workers were great, some took a very personal likening to our dad which made our family feel comfortable with everything going on. They listened to his needs as well as ours and helped us through a most difficult time in both his and our life. We were able to keep our dad in the same room with the same staff he had formed a bond with and start the hospice process, this was a blessing to not have to move him. During hospice, the staff was outstanding in his treatment needs and made sure each family member was okay. Always stopping in to check on us, talk with each of us and listen to our fears and tears. There are some incredible staff members at Shelby Crossing that came to feel like family after 5 weeks. My dad would often call me and while talking I could hear how wonderful they were with him , even when no one was there to see or hear. In the end, our family is thankful for having a good experience with good, caring people. We would recommend Shelby Crossing for your loved one, be it therapy or assisted living. We saw it all while there for 5 weeks, and met a lot of patients between the community dining room and the outdoor garden, we really never heard anyone complaining. As for the staff members we got to know, thank you with all our heart for taking such wonderful care of our dad, God Bless you.

The staff at Shelby Crossing are very compassionate and care about the residents and their families. The staff took the time to get to know my Dad and our family. Always friendly and welcoming. My Dad was in the Health Campus and Assisted Living Facility for 9 months. The staff assisted us in dealing with health and medical challenges, offering support where possible. Their actions were commendable. We appreciate the efforts of all the staff who contributed to my Dad's care and provided us with reassurance. Thank you!!

My 95-year-old dad was in the Rehab facility and is now in Assisted Living due to a back injury. We could not be happier with Shelby Crossing. Every single staff member has been lovely. They are so kind and attentive. They treat the patients with genuine affection, as though they are family. The food is fantastic! My father is an incredibly picky eater; yet, he enjoys the meals here. He chose to have lunch in his room today and they brought him turkey with dressing and mashed potatoes and a bowl of soup with a piece of cake. The other day, he had caramelized peaches with his lunch. This is not "institutional" food like jello and pudding. They serve restaurant-quality food, like glazed salmon with spinach sautéed with garlic. But, they offer alternatives and customized meals as well. The rooms make you feel as though you were staying in a nice hotel. There are no bad smells and not a speck of dust. Everything is immaculate. To top it all off, there are so many delightful activities planned for whoever wishes to participate. Most days that I visit my dad, there is live music. They also have happy hour, craft sales, and many other social functions. It is a lovely community where bonds of friendship are formed in a festive, lively environment. My husband and I have health issues. It is entirely possible that my father may outlive us. It gives me great peace of mind that my dad would be in good hands if I could not take care of him. My dad has said repeatedly that if or when the time comes that he can no longer live on his own, he would want to live at Shelby Crossing's Assisted Living. You could not ask for a better endorsement than that.
