About Sheepshead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

Sheepshead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a 200-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Brooklyn, New York, serving patients needing post-acute rehabilitation and ongoing medical support.

Family experiences here vary noticeably. Several families praise the staff warmth and attentiveness, with one noting that "every single staff member is genuinely caring, attentive, and compassionate." Specific caregivers, including nurses and physical therapists, are frequently mentioned by name for going above and beyond. The rehabilitation space itself is described as spacious and well-maintained. However, other families report serious gaps in care coordination and responsiveness, particularly around medication management and monitoring for patients with higher dependency needs. One family experienced a medical crisis when their father was found severely dehydrated and required hospitalization.

The facility appears strongest for shorter-term rehabilitation stays and patients who can manage much of their own care, though families with loved ones requiring intensive support should weigh the mixed feedback carefully. Sheepshead holds a 4.3-star rating across 363 Google reviews.

The rehabilitation part is beautiful very big and colorful lots of workers. HOWEVER, the nurses are TERRIBLE. The lack of care was disgusting my father was sent to the hospital because he was severely dehydrated, found slouched over. If you or your parent is able to do for themselves and just need rehabilitation, short time. It is fine BUT if your parent can not do for themselves do NOT put them here!!

My father-in-law has been at this rehab for about two months now, and he has been to four other rehabs in Nassau County. That were nothing like this one. This one is absolutely clean. They’re extensive the caring they take care of their patients and their. Patients needed. This place is the place to be. So grateful for them. I recommend this 100 place. ❤️

My father stayed at Sheepshead Rehabilitation Facility for two weeks and had a very positive experience. The staff was kind, patient, and professional. Special thanks to Tamar (nurse) and Roland (PT) for their compassion and friendliness. They really went above and beyond to make my father feel comfortable and supported, both physically and mentally. It meant a lot to our family. Highly recommend this facility.

I am only at this facility for Pain management and Rehabilitation. This is my 5th day here. I only started getting the right meds yesterday. I had to fight to get the right meds. I was told that the doctor didn't review my labs yet which was drawn 4 days ago in order to receive my lab saving medication. Respiratory only came once to check C pap machine. I don't wear anymore because of shaking movements from mask Staff works very hard. Family are demanding. I only met Nsg SVP once, besides these issues The other staff members are taking good care of me. Everyone is niece even those that seems mean are not. We can't have everyone walking around with big smiles and don't mean it. But as you get to know them try to open up to them, Be real and you will know whose smiles are real or not.💓👏💖

I cannot recommend this rehab facility enough! Every single staff member is genuinely caring, attentive, and compassionate. They truly understand the needs of both patients and their families, making the entire experience supportive and reassuring. The team not only provides excellent medical care but also takes the time to listen, comfort, and encourage patients through every step of their recovery. Families are kept informed and involved, which makes a huge difference in feeling supported during such a challenging time. The facility itself is beautiful, spotless, and smells amazing, reminding me of a high-end hotel. From start to finish, the team goes above and beyond to ensure comfort, care, and healing. Thank you for creating such a wonderful environment!
