My Mother was a patient in the rehab facility recently. The ball was dropped on a urine culture, and my Mother ended up with sepsis.

Let me start off by saying that my Mother has had a very traumatic experience from the start, she lost two of her sons within two months of each other for a total of three sons. She had a very traumatizing experience in Tuscaloosa and was "blacklisted" from all providers locally to the Tuscaloosa area. Finally, we lucked up this place. When I tell you that these people are one on one, they take time to explain everything they are doing, they spend time with your LOVED ONE. It is a drive but well worth it when you know your loved one is safe. The nurse practioner is simply amazing and treats your mother like her own. The doctor is also amazing and shows up to see the residents. I tell you, I am picky about my mother but the standard of care she has received is above and beyond, the nurses, the CNAs, all of them, they aren't just workers, these ladies are family. I would be willing to tell anyone in Tuscaloosa it is worth the drive. Just do it, don't make the mistakes I made in the beginning. Local isn't always the best, and the quality of care matters, they are working her diligently to get the rehab she failed to receive before. It was a setback for her and a challenge for them but when I tell you that these ladies are driven with a can do attitude they are! If I could give 10 stars I would!!!!! Make the drive and place your loved one where they are cared for and rehab actually takes place.

During the hardest two weeks of our lives, Self Nursing Home was truly an answer to prayer. The staff that took care of my mother was the best that we could have asked for. Not only did they care for our mom, they took time out to really minister to us as a family. I will always recommend their services to anyone. Thank you Self Nursing Home for all that you do. May God continue to bless your facility and those that work with you.

A family atmosphere for employees, patients and their families. The activities Dept keep the clients involved in crafts for others, card making, praise and worship with visiting youth groups, choirs, quartets, children’s ministries and senior programs. The Rehab first and now the NH have been very good to my loved one.

I recently gave a review when I was upset about some issues and took my anger home with me without talking to the higher-ups. In all fairness I should have taken proper channels and discuss my feelings. After doing so they were more than happy to try and fix the problem. There is no perfect nursing home to fit everyone's request. I do realize they have a difficult job trying to make every family member happy. We all love our love ones in the nursing home and think they are the most important person there just like me. I'm more then happy that my mother is at self nursing. I will learn to go through the proper channels next time if I have a concern. Looking forward to working with Self Nursing .
