If you have a chance to place your loved one into the hands of the lovely people working in this nursing home, I hope you'll seize the opportunity. This is a lovely home for my husband, and has been, since the day he arrived. The warmth, the willingness, the compassion of the staff, from the top of the organization to the bottom, is limitless. They care, and it shows. Your loved one is never a burden to them; they never let you feel like a bother. It is professional, it is clean, it is home-like and loving. If you have the chance to view my review of Orono Commons, a "sister" nursing home, owned by the same organization, you'll see how dramatically different this place is from the other. Your loved one will be treated with respect, and so will you. I am able to rest easy at home, knowing he is as well cared for there. He has never complained, never asked to leave; that feels like home to him now. And that's an extraordinary blessing at such a time in your loved one's life.

I had the pleasure of visiting the community today. It is clean, residents and families were enjoying all areas of the facility - including the beautiful gardens before the day became too hot! Staff were pleasant and helpful; everyone I passed greeted me with a smile and hello. I really enjoyed my time there.

My First Day at Sedgewood From the moment I walked into Sedgewood Commons, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The facility is clean and well-kept—you can clearly tell that the housekeeping team takes great pride in their work. What stood out most was how attentive and accommodating the staff were. From rehab to nursing to the CNAs, everyone made me feel welcome and supported from the very beginning. I also had the opportunity to join a group activity, and I was impressed by how many residents were actively engaged. It’s clear that there’s a strong sense of community here. Overall, my first day exceeded my expectations, and I’m looking forward to what’s to come.

My husband stayed at Sedgewood Commons in Maine for approximately 11 days of respite care, and our experience on the Hawthorne Unit was exceptional from start to finish. Every staff member we encountered was kind, welcoming, and professional, creating a warm and supportive environment throughout his stay. While I wish I could remember and thank each individual by name, I want to extend a special thank you to the entire team. Jen in Admissions was incredibly helpful and compassionate, guiding us seamlessly from our initial contact through our departure. Rosie, who I believe was the charge nurse on the Hawthorne Unit, stood out for her warmth, professionalism, and deep knowledge. She was not only attentive during my husband’s stay, but also supportive as we prepared for his next placement. I also want to acknowledge Morey, the occupational therapist, whose dedication helped my husband make meaningful progress. Prior to his stay, he had nearly given up on walking. By the time we left, he was able to walk short distances again and had a more hopeful attitude about continuing his mobility journey. We are truly grateful to everyone at Sedgewood Commons for the care, encouragement, and dignity they showed my husband during his time there.
