My dad was in here after hip replacement. I can now say I would not send my worst enemy to recover in this place. My dad fell 5 times completely unattended and left to try to get in and out of bed alone. He was left to sit in his own urine on many occasions. He was left in his soiled clothing for days. They were to launder his clothing and hadn’t. The communication in this place is non-existent. The only time they did anything was after me or my son and daughter in law visited and complained to them. We will avoid this place at all cost. If you love your family member DO NOT send them here. I’d be happy to talk to anyone about our experience.

I was very nervous about the upcoming admission of my wife of 43yrs to Seaford Center. She was not wanting to go there or anywhere. To my great relief the staff at admission was very sensitive to my concerns and fears. I truly believe that the administration staff were real. I became comfortable in the knowledge that Kay will be taken well care at Seaford Center. Also, as I moved through the Center it was clear that the home was very clean and well taken care of. My 85 year old blind, hard of hearing and disabled (difficulty getting out of the bed and walking) father was transferred to this facility after a hospital stay for Rehab. Within a week he failed Rehab and is now a Long Term Care resident. There was no signage in his room that he's blind or hard of hearing. We, his family made a sign that clearly no one reads! Additionally, staff seem to be unaware of his disabilities. His food tray is rarely set up for him and they wrap his call bell on the bed side rail, he cannot find the call bell on the side rail. The same for his bed control. No one gets him out of bed unless he asks to get up, that's only if he can find his call bell to notify staff he would like to get out in the wheelchair. After his therapy they parked him in an activity room and just left him there. He has no way of finding his way back to his room and had to yell out for some one to take the blind man back to his room. The rooms are very small. His only activity options are to lie in bed or sit in the wheelchair. No recliner chairs in the rooms, only a straight backed chair that looks like a dining room chair. They push his wheelchair next to his bed and tell him they'll be right back. Again, no call bell. What seems like an eternity to him passes before someone comes back to assist him back to bed. His TV is on a dresser, he cannot manage the TV remote because it is also on the dresser. He just wants to listen to music. I asked for a radio, none was provided. They don't try to socialize him with other residents which may make him feel more comfortable. I live in PA. I call him daily and it usually takes 30-60 minutes for somebody to answer the phone. Every time I call, I need to remind the staff that he is blind and a staff member needs to answer his phone for him. The room phones are very old and he cannot hear me. It is very frustrating for him. It's as if they have never cared for a blind person before. Dad arrived to the Seaford Center with a bed sore on his butt. They keep him in an adult diaper because he can't always hold his urine. How is the wound supposed to heal if he is in a urine soaked diaper? When he was on the Rehab wing, his bed had an air mattress to help the pressure sore heal. Now that he is on the Long Term Care side, he no longer has the air mattress. Not sure what care the money is paying for. Don't get me started on the many flies in the facility and patient rooms. It is not a good impression when you walk past the nurses station and all the staff have fly swatters in their hands. They have a court yard and gazebo which is nice for the residents and their visitors but littered with cigarette butts. The only positives: the place appears clean and the staff are pleasant. He's only been there 3 weeks and so far it's been a living hell for him. He has totally lost what independence he had prior to his hospitalization. I called and spoke to the Director of Admissions, Missy, regarding my numerous concerns. Missy took my information and told me she would have the Director of Nursing, Austin, contact me. That was 2 weeks ago and no follow up call from Austin. I do not recommend this facility for any patient who is blind or has multiple disabilities. Those residents are forgotten about by the staff and their existence is lying in bed in a diaper with only their thoughts to keep them company.

Staff & therapy was wonderful in this facility. Each day was filled with attentive staff & lots of OT & PT which allowed me to navigate walking again! I am very grateful & I would recommend this facility if you want to get better quickly.
