My mother was in Sam Keep for the better part of year. It one on the great regrets of my life that we put her in there. The care she received was minimal. Echoing what another review said the place seems dangerously under staffed. The staff that worked there appeared un-engaged and seemed to be chained to the nurses sattions. Multiple times when I arrived and found my mother needding to be changed and to have been left in that condition for more than a day. Only to be told by the nurses that they would get to it with no sense of urgency. During the time my mother stayed there, they managed to throw out her false teeth after she left them on a dining tray. This happened not once but twice. When we brought this to the attention of the staff they were vaguely apologetic and seemed to imply there things happen and that we try and be more careful in the future. But you know these things happen. They also left my mother shoes on for over a week while I was vacation. She developed sore on her feet which developed into actual holes in her soles, it took months to treat. There was little evidence that anyone working there was paying close to the patients. Ironically the floor she was had a poster of poem titled "Just a Nurse" You can google it, but it's the most passive aggressive things I've seen, suggesting that nurses don't get there due and it was nurse who did the hard workd and received little praise. While my mother there it was just the nurses rendering inadequate care. It was just a nurse who forgot to take off her shoes and it was just a nurse who threw out teeth. From what I saw everytime I went there It was just the nurses who were continually on their phone ignoring patients. One other thing to note. In order to get the cable turned on in her room we had to pay the front desk downstairs cash only to get it turned on. They would not provide a receipt for this. Can't say for sure they were pocketing the cash, but it sure seemed like it. There are not a lot of options up here for care for the eldery, but you have any other option I would look there first.
