My mom lived at Salterra Carson Valley for about three months, and she ultimately spent the final months of her life there. She had metastatic breast cancer that had spread to her bones and eventually went on hospice.<br><br>I especially want to recognize the compassion we received toward the end of her life. Communication with me was excellent. The staff and med techs checked on my mom frequently, kept me informed, and treated both of us with genuine kindness. During an incredibly difficult time, I received so many hugs and so much compassion from the people there. Those things matter more than you realize when you're losing your mother.<br><br>My mom had been a nurse herself, and she definitely had a personality and her own opinions about things! The staff continued to treat her with kindness and patience even as her condition became more difficult.<br><br>No assisted-living facility can replace having someone sitting beside a resident every minute of every day. As my mom's cancer progressed, her needs became increasingly difficult, but I always felt that the people at Salterra cared about her and were checking on her.<br><br>I'm very grateful for the kindness they showed my mom and our family during her final months, and especially during her final days. I'll remember the hugs, the communication, and the compassion. Thank you for caring for my mom.
