I chose Preferred Care at Old Bridge for my father after reading the reviews and seeing that the facility was also on Robert Wood Johnson’s preferred list. Another important factor in my decision was that my father was able to have his own private room. My father has been at the facility for about a month. He is fairly independent, so his main needs have been physical therapy, rehabilitation, and wound care. The facility also transports him to his appointments and makes sure he receives the necessary follow-up care. When I call, the phone is answered, and I am able to speak with staff when necessary. Overall, my father’s experience has been positive. He has been treated with respect, is comfortable, and continues to receive the therapy and care he needs. Thank God, he is doing well and making progress. There are a few areas where I feel the facility could improve. Communication between staff and families could be more consistent. I also do not agree with patients routinely being bathed only twice a week and feel the bathing schedule should be improved. My father does not particularly enjoy the food, so I believe there could be improvements in the meal options as well. I also feel it is important to have more bilingual staff available to better communicate with and support Spanish-speaking patients. At this time, I do not have any major complaints regarding my father’s care. He is comfortable, being treated respectfully, and receiving the rehabilitation he needs. I appreciate the care he has received during his stay.
