Would not recommend Poet's Walk , they have a lot of issues to work out. My mother was at Poets a little over 2 months 2 long. The facility demonstrated the inability to provide appropriate, safe, and adequate care consistent with my mother's medical, physical, and cognitive needs. We had to pull her out because continued placement at this facility presented an unacceptable risk to her health, safety, and well-being.
The concerns regarding the care provided to my mother during her residency since her admission in early May 2026:
My mother retained the ability to communicate to a meaningful extent, ambulate with the assistance of a walker, and required only minimal assistance with toileting. Since her admission to Poet's Walk, however, she has experienced a substantial and alarming decline in her physical, cognitive, and functional condition.
This decline is the result of negligent care, inadequate supervision, improper hygiene assistance, and the unnecessary or excessive administration of medications. This facility only wants to medicate residents so that they don’t have to deal with them, on multiple occasions, members of the staff reached out so that we can approve more medications because my mother was considered "disruptive." This raised significant concerns regarding the appropriateness, medical necessity, informed consent, and clinical justification for the administration of psychotropic or other behavior-modifying medications.
Our concerns extend beyond medication management. On multiple occasions, my mother was found wearing heavily soiled incontinence briefs, and on one occasion she was in a pool of her own urine. These conditions reflect a failure to provide appropriate hygiene assistance, timely toileting, routine monitoring, and the basic dignity to which every resident is entitled.
Lastly, and the most troubling, is the number (about 25) of falls my mother sustained while under the care and supervision of Poet's Walk in just the short period she resided there. We were informed that several of these falls were unwitnessed despite our understanding that surveillance cameras are located throughout the facility. These repeated incidents raise substantial concerns regarding resident monitoring, staffing levels, supervision, compliance with fall-prevention protocols, and adherence to the applicable standard of care.
We did manage to meet with the facilities director, but even after that meeting, my mother experienced three additional falls. These concerns were expressly communicated to management and rather than observing meaningful corrective action, additional incidents occurred, further demonstrating the facility's inability to adequately supervise and protect my mother from foreseeable harm.
Residents residing in memory care are among the most vulnerable individuals and are wholly dependent upon a facility to provide competent nursing care, supervision, hygiene assistance, medication management, fall prevention, dignity, and protection. Poet’s failed in every area.
Before placing your loved one in any facility, research, ask questions and maybe reconsider placing them in a facility.

I cannot recommend this place. Missed doses, violence and unclean issues. The management does seem to care as they don't change the behaviors or fix the issues.

This community has gone downhill. All the management team quit when the new director took over, and the replacements are not as attentive. They go through employees quickly due to burnout most of the staff we loved when we would visit my aunt are gone. I've heard staff complain about how they are treated. People here are going through the motions, and the building is outdated. I really wish the employees here had more training to handle the people who live here. Management leaves early and are hard to reach. I'm so disappointed because this used to be such an active community and I only see them with heads on tables or watching tv. I'm shocked no one else has spoken up yet.
