Today we visited a church member residing here. All of the workers from reception, cleaners, nursing staff, and residents were so kind and friendly. The hallway art is beautiful on the floors we visited and everything was so clean. I’m so glad our friend is in a safe and loving environment.

The hobby group (crochet, knit etc.) was very welcoming. It provided an opportunity for me to spend time with other people close to my age, while doing something creative. Coffee and cake was a sweet way to bring the activity to an end. Jennifer, who runs the programs, is helpful and interested in what we thought about our day. She's easy to reach out to.

I have high praise of the Plattduetsche Home Society. We knew of this place in the community for years, and so it was on our list when it was time to move my mom (she could no longer live alone in a house) My mom had early stage dementia, and we first moved her into the Independent Living Apartments, for which her GP had cleared her. Within the first few days, the staff and we the family realised we'd made a mistake. They easily moved her over to the Adult Home side, and my mom would live there until she was no longer appropriate (her Alzheimer's Disease progressed and she needed a locked down memory care unit) for another 3 years. The first thing that impressed us when we toured back in 2021 was that they had no deaths in the initial wave of Covid. Second - they are a non-profit. They truly care about the people. It is not about the money. The staff were terrific. Steve, the administrator, was easy to contact and ask questions to and make all arrangements for move in and out. Teasha, the head nurse, was incredibly kind and gentle to my mom. Knowing my mom was a retired RN, she knew exactly how to deal with her, and when my mom got confused, she helped her feel like she was part of the team. Renee, the case manager, went over and above to keep us in the loop with regular updates, photos, etc. Teasha and Renee worked hard to keep my mom at the Platt for as long as possible, because it is so difficult to move someone with Alzheimer's, and my mom was doing so well, despite the inevitable progression of the disease. They went out of their way to help rethink plans to keep my mom calm and steady and happy (if you know and love someone with dementia, you will likely know what I mean by this, and how important it is) So again, I highly recommend the Plattduetsche. The Independent Living apartments are beautiful. The rooms on the Adult Home side are lovely. They keep it very CLEAN! The food is great, the coffee is abundant, the gardens are lovely, and there is even a pool! But even more importantly, the staff are special people who will care for your loved one.
