From the time I was admitted to Our Lady of Wisdom skilled nursing facility I was treated with the deepest respect and professionalism. My nurses were Erika Smith, Ms Candy, Ms Linda, Cherie or Sherry, Angeles. My aides were Barbara, Anne, and a few more whose names I don’t recall. Housekeeping was Ms Debbie and Dominique. Everyone I came in contact was friendly, kind and genuinely concerned with my well being. I was truly blessed by this experience

My loved one was dangerously neglected, miserable, disregarded, unkempt, etc at this place. Workers are apathetic and lazy healthcare workers. Went to check on my family member who was sent here for rehab and found him completely unlike himself and worse off than how he came in. Called an ambulance after a staff member, who was sitting down being attentive only to her phone, tried to gaslight me into thinking my family member was okay when, in fact, he ABSOLUTELY WASN’T. Ambulance came and brought him to an emergency room where he had to stay for days after being at their facility. Luckily we got to him when we did. My advice, if this is your only option for a facility make SURE you check on your people. Check daily over the phone and in-person? Go as much as you can! Go a few times a week or even everyday if possible. Praying for all that have to put up with horrible healthcare places like this one here.

Our Lady Of Wisdom in Algiers/NOLA is a structurally beautiful living facility. Its many floor to ceiling windows offer lots of natural light and its wide corridors make it easy for two opposing wheelchairs to easily traverse. OLW also offers many activities for residents including daily Mass in its very own beautiful Chapel. OLW is beautifully decorated for each holiday by one or more very talented staff members. I’m grateful to the Director of OLW for being available via phone even after hours should the need arise. I’m very impressed with the professionalism and personal style of the Director of Nursing who also makes herself available via phone no matter the hour or day. I can and have offered a solution to something I believe problematic and everyone from the Director of OLW to the CNA, will work to resolve said issue. A special shout out to my Mother’s nurses on hall C who are not only extremely professional but equally compassionate. What a blessing to have these Nurses taking care of our loved ones. They’re the absolute best! I’m very grateful for the devotion OLW CNA’s show their residents albeit Louisiana CNA turnover is 55.5% which is high according to Google. I’m certain the job of a CNA is probably the most taxing of all and most of these ladies do treat your loved one like they would their very own. OLW’s four alternating front desk receptionists are always welcoming, pleasant, and extremely professional. These ladies beautiful smiling faces and personal greetings are the perfect introduction to OLW. Even the housekeeping, engineering guys, and culinary staff play a pivotal role in making both you and your loved ones feel valued. I would however like to see more Whole Foods offered. One housekeeping male employee in particular especially brightens the faces of all OLW ladies. That special connection is what makes your loved one feel appreciated. What a blessing. Even the accounting department stationed near the nurses desk is friendly, gracious and helpful. One of the new accountants has a little old black dog named Magnolia who seems to be loved by all the residents. Magnolia is the perfect form of therapy for the entire OLW community. Finally, when my Mother’s insurance allows therapy, it is with the absolute best therapist. She truly enjoys going and loves all the therapist. I’m disappointed that therapy for my Mother is currently dictated by government regulated insurance because it’s proven to be crucial for both improved stability and stamina of the aging body and mind. “It takes a village” And I thank God that there are many people with so many different attributes, all contributing to the well-being of my mother and the entire OLW community.

To whom it may concern: This letter is to express my most recent experience receiving physical and occupational therapy at your facility. Upon a lovely and warm welcome from the staff and a professional assessment. I had the opportunity to share my injuries and goals as well as what to expect during each session which one of my favorites became group participation. I would also like to mention that my motivation has increased significantly after witnessing each day on how your team's ability provided the perfect balance of compassion yet challenges me to endure beyond my discomfort both mentally and physically. The entire team's expert plan is crucial to my recovery, and I especially appreciate how the team's attitude makes my sessions enjoyable each day. Their combined efforts make me feel safe, comfortable and supported while away from my family. I would also like to note that as a regular participant in the gym area, the effort put in by your team to keep the equipment, facility and common area clean doesn't go unnoticed. Thank you once again for your outstanding care. You have truly made a difference in my life, and I will be forever grateful for the hope and health your team helped me reclaim. Outstanding Care and Compassion at Our Lady of Wisdom As the primary advocates for my aunt, my husband and I have navigated her care from out of state for several years. Living hundreds of miles away presents challenges, especially during her annual medical episodes triggered by post-traumatic stress from Hurricane Katrina. When it became clear she could no longer live independently, her doctors recommended long-term care. We are so grateful we found Our Lady of Wisdom Community Care Center. From the beginning, their professionalism, dedication, and compassion stood out and gave us peace of mind. Exceptional Staff Support The staff’s commitment is remarkable. Ms. Rosemary, the Admissions Director, and Ms. Kierra, the Caseworker, went above and beyond to ensure my aunt received the exact care prescribed by her physicians. Their empathy, responsiveness, and clear communication allowed us to feel fully involved in her care, even from afar. Despite the distance, we never felt disconnected thanks to the team’s transparency and dedication. Professionalism Amidst Family Conflict Our journey has not been without challenges. All of my aunt’s sisters opposed her placement and, unfortunately, expressed their frustrations through accusatory emails and rude calls to the staff. This behavior was unfair and embarrassing, especially toward professionals giving their all for my aunt’s well-being. Yet the care team at Our Lady of Wisdom never wavered. They remained patient, professional, and focused solely on my aunt. Their grace under pressure is a true testament to their character. Quality of Care My aunt received comprehensive, compassionate care. She benefited from therapies including occupational, speech, and physical therapy, all coordinated seamlessly with her medical needs. The therapists and nursing staff worked together to foster dignity, progress, and comfort, making a tangible difference in her quality of life. Her strength and confidence returned in ways we had not thought possible. Communication and Updates Equally impressive was the communication. We received regular updates and prompt responses to every inquiry. Staff welcomed our input and treated us as true partners in her care plan. For families managing care from afar, this level of openness and involvement is priceless. Conclusion We are deeply grateful to the entire staff at Our Lady of Wisdom for their unwavering professionalism, compassion, and support. They provided exceptional care for my aunt while also giving us comfort and confidence in the process. Even in the face of unnecessary family conflict, they demonstrated patience and dedication at every step. For anyone seeking a supportive, nurturing environment where patients’ needs and dignity always come first, we wholeheartedly recommend Our Lady of Wisdom.
