It started out ok for my dad. The location/grounds are nice. But the buildings are in horrible disrepair. They have lost their Lutheran way now and are only in it for the $$$$. They are throwing people out so that they have "luxury life leases." Too bad if your loved one is a legacy resident, too bad if he is dying, too bad if he called the place home... They only care about $$$$$!! They wouldn't even allow my dad to come home from the hospital because he didn't have enough money for three months in skilled nursing even though he only needed two weeks. Totally sound of mind, was very attached to the place, paid rent on time. Oakwood is a disgrace. We had to find another place for him to live in his dying days. I hope these people are ashamed of themselves. Also, talk to any social worker... They will tell you to stay away from Oakwood. They don't care about anything except money now. Very Interesting how a bunch of five star reviews suddenly popped up three weeks ago. Even suspicious. Either that there are a lot of rich people who are so far oblivious to the inhumanity of this place. Why did they make my dad move two days before Christmas several years ago from the Gallery to the Tower yet still haven't torn it down?! Lots of fuzzy math and fraud going on.
