I am a patient at Oakland Manor in Pontiac Mi. It is a hidden gem. It is a Skilled Nursing center. My husband & I are both recovering from RSV. We were too sick to go home. The staff is wonderful, compassionate, fun. The food is delicious. Not hospital food. It’s nourishing so you can get better. I’ve been caregiving my husband for 5 years because of being on the dementia road sad to say. & for me it’s been like a resort. My husband is in a separate room so I can rest & just visit him. The nurses wheel him down here for us to visit while they’re literally running to care for everyone else. Plus he has a bad balance problem that gets worse in hospital & it takes 3 nurses to get him to bathroom! They cheer because they did it! They should! It’s an older building but everything works. I was afraid my husband wouldn’t be able to walk out of here to be with me but the Pt staff has him walking like before he came. So we will both be able to go home again. We are both 89 years old & are so very grateful that we still have each other with the help of this facility Thank you so much for this extra time we will have together. We are forever grateful.
