I removed my previous Review because the remodel "greatly improved" the visual aspect of the Nursing home and the rooms components. My only lasting concern is that I'm witnessing times during meal times, that; If a Resident says they are not hungry, it is easily met with, oh ok then. Instead of trying harder to coach them into eating their needed meals. Even going ahead and setting it up in front of them and giving them the chance to be enticed to eat by the aroma of the food or giving them more minutes to mentally get through one decision and maybe create a new decision, which is very common with elderly persons depending on their specific health issues. BUT I think it's met with this attitude of easily saying, oh ok then and moving on to the next, from either not enough staffing during these times and/or the server only has so much time to pass the food out to everyone. If either be the case, none are beneficial to the Resident needing Nutrition. Or Serving the meal with an item that should not have been prepared as in advance as it probably was, because when served it was inedible. Referring to what looked like a prepared/boxed country fried steak disc that was disgustingly dehydrated from over cooking or early prep time, that was only good for a door stop! Most of the time the food is "very good". Maybe a menu update is needed, to discontinue items that don't fair well with early prep times. Let me shorten this up for you! If your Dietician or Kitchen Helpers are serving food that needs teeth to chew it, to a building full of Residents with no teeth. Then someone's brain who is in charge of food decision making isn't able to conceive the challenge at hand and needs more training and education! If you cook it! Make you a plate! Let it sit in the exact same conditions as the Residents food sits, until they are served! At that time, remove your plate and bon appetite! Eat up... If you can eat it all, only using your tongue and the roof of your mouth (no teeth). Keep it in your menu! If you can't eat it. Fix the problem! If you've went to your Nursing Home Administrator for a food menu change and was met with financial challenges or deflection, put them through the same challenge bring them the same cycled meal and ask them to eat lunch with you, y'all do it together. Owners or investors come in on the day of serving meat disc lunch. Offer them lunch!

I love the family oriented feeling that this community gives when you walk in the building. The staff are compassionate and caring. The residents are sweet and happy. This is a tucked away treasure in the center point area. Christine Armand is amazing with activities and Cheyenne Dubea is always willing to make our new residents feel at home.

I have the opportunity to visit residents at Oakhaven with my job. They are always so well cared for. The staff is attentive and always friendly. Melissa Freeman, the Transition Coordinator, is one of the most caring and knowledgeable people I know. She’s always willing to help out in whatever way she can.
