I was greeted by a very nice lady at the desk. She asked who I was there for and looked up the room number for me. She then attempted to take me to the room when a different care taker overheard the conversation. She escorted me to the room and was very nice as well. After my visit, the lady at the desk thanked me for coming and invited me back soon. The room that I visited was very neat and clean as were the hallways to it. The patient I visited said that the nurses are very nice and accommodating.

This place is very similar to Spring Creek in Harrisburg.
Filthy, fruit flies everywhere, rooms are disgusting and outdated, no shower in rooms, only in common area for all just to shower 2 times a week. Dining room was flooded by tons of fruit flies, especially by fridge and sink area. I went to visit a family friend, he freaked if urine, pants were saturated with urine, with a tab brief on. Don't let the outside of the building fool you, this place is God awful. Witnessed a resident in hallway waiting on elevator with no brief on, and could see his bare behind and had a chuck pad covering penis. It gives mental hospital vibes, not rehab, or long term. I left there in pure disgust, feeling sorry for every resident stuck there. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy, absolutely filthy, and needs cleaned, sanitized and a total remodel on the inside. Prayers for the ones stuck there, or reasons like insurance, what a shame.

This place is about the worst there is. Don’t put anyone you really love and care about in this place. My Mom was there for over a year. She has Alzheimer’s. They didn’t do anything to help her. I frequently walked in to find that she had soiled herself and no one noticed. The clincher was her getting a severe UTI and having to be taken to the hospital. I had been requesting a urinalysis be done for over 3 weeks to check for UTI. But she had to be in bad shape before they finally did one only to confirm she did in fact have a UTI. Her BP dropped to 70/40, she had a bed sore and rash all over her body. I can’t even go into all the bad things my Mom had to deal with at this place. 5 days before she went to hospital, her status had majorly changed, she was not eating, drinking and she was sleeping all the time. No one called me to tell me this. Thankfully with the help of hospital social worker, I was able to get her moved! Don’t even bother to add your canned response about how much you care and strive to change because under current ownership and management, nothing will change!

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW AS IT WILL NOT TURN OUT AS YOU THINK…

My wife was admitted to Northern Dauphin Nursing & Rehab in April, 2025, due to complications with Huntington’s Disease, an incurable neurological condition that resulted in her falling frequently & unable to come home. A hospital social worker found Northern Dauphin, which was the only place in a seven-county area that would take my insurance, had bed space & would accept an HD patient.

My sister & I visited & just looked @ each other disappointed. Our point of reference is Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, which is shinier and bigger and offers many more services but had no bed space. We had to make a quick decision & had no choice. The only one we had turned out to be a good choice.

The level of care my wife received was exceptional. Health care nursing in general is dominated by short staffing. Northern Dauphin’s nursing staff - and staff, in general - was caring & compassionate. They did the best they could with what they had in a difficult situation (HD is ugly) and what they did was more than satisfactory.

They treated my wife so lovingly, even though she had been rendered unable to care for herself in any way. It is a job I could not do and cannot do and I’m glad they can and will.

I have friends whose relatives in the area didn’t speak highly of Northern Dauphin. My guess is it’s what they’ve heard but maybe never witnessed firsthand. Aesthetically, it is not a palace. But it is clean in all forms of cleanliness and, as my pastor said, “Even people at Masonic Village complain about the meals.”

If you are in the situation I was in & need a place to place a loved one, please visit Northern Dauphin. What matters isn’t the way it looks from the outside but the way it cares on the inside.
