Jessica has done a fantastic job getting me to independent status. Her therapeutic help is accomplished with humor and patience. She is just the best therapist! Joe the nurse has a great sense of humor and is highly skilled. Thanks to both Jessica and Joe for their kind assistance.

I left there very sick Thankfully my boyfriend slept in an demanded they get me help. I was so sick I ended up falling into a deep sleep for 3 months. I will say there were a few aids that were good. The physical therapy team fought for me as well. Once I ended up in the hospital and my family went to retrieve my things, many were missing. My brand new wheelchair,my laptop and some other important things that are irreplaceable. They gave my son a wheelchair that was literally falling apart. Thankfully I'm in a wonderful facility now. One that I can call home. If you are considering placing your family member at Northchase...DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Karen, the social worker is really helpful and went above and beyond and Gerry, the PT therapist was amazing...Otherwise, RUN!! I was illegally billed for coinsurance that didnt exist. Make sure to research your benefits and be proactive. I did more work than the financial office when it came to contacting insurance and understanding my coverage and my financial responsibility. They collected $1519.00 from me, and wanted that payment weekly. I pulled up my plans benefits for Skilled Nursing Facility and it stated unlimited days were covered with no copay or coinsurance. I showed the financial office and the woman said that it was a Medicare Advantage Plan and that payment was required weekly or I would be discharged. I made the first payment and then decided to call member services. Turns out what they did was illegal. I addressed this with the financial manager and they apologized and contacted the main headquarters to issue a refund to me. Apparently, they are not verifying patient insurance. They assumed that I had the standard Medicare Advantage through UHC, but mine was a retirement benefit plan through Verizon, so my coverage for Skilled Nursing Facility differed from the more common UHC Medicare Advantage Plan. They called me five times to make that $1519.00 payment when one call to insurance would have clarified my financial responsibility. They are contracted with Medicare as well as the Medicare Advantage plans( which means in network) and collecting money outside of patients annual deductible, copay, coinsurance or non covered services is ILLEGAL. A complaint to Medicare or the State Insurance Department may result in an investigation and/or fines for the nursing home.....

My husband was at Northchase for rehab after foot surgery. I cannot say enough good things about this place! The facility was very clean and did not have an unpleasant odor like many skilled nursing facilities I have visited. He was taken care of extremely well and every time I visited, no matter who the staff member was, they were extremely pleasant and genuinely seemed happy to be doing what they do. They took care of his wound and the physical therapist and the nurses were wonderful and took care of his therapy needs and diabetes and made sure his sugar was right. Their social worker is great, too! Every time I called him, he had great things to say about every staff member that cared for him. He even liked the food!! I can't say enough good things about this place! Thank you to everyone, who works there and cared for him!

My mom was left in a wheelchair for hours today as she could not get anyone to come to help her get in bed when she tried many times by pressing the call button. Luckily i had bought her a cell phone and she was able to call me so that I could call and get her help. My mom has been here for a few weeks for Rehabilitation after hip surgery due to a broken hip. I have yet to hear from anyone regarding her progress, plans for release etc... her first night there was all but a welcoming experience. I had to introduce myself to the staff..they were not even slightly friendly. I asked the nurse for water for my mom and she snapped at me. Your moms first night in a facility you expect alittle compassion. What I got was that we were a bother. The only call I've received is from the activities director asking me what my mom is interested in...not sure why she bothered calling bc mom has yet to be taken do any activities. They just put a calendar on the wall that list activities and my mom cant even read. I called the admissions lady the day after mom was admitted and left a voicemail because I wanted to know options for getting her elsewhere. She never returned my call. I would highly not recommend this place.
