My mother stayed for a few days after being in the hospital. I thought we were putting her in good hands but I was mistaken. The first night, an expensive cork cup disappeared out of her room. Then they over worked her in PT and a woman that was walking with a walker needed a wheelchair. I was told she had neuropathy. Later it was found that her tendons were pulled. One morning I came in early and a nurse was yelling down the hall that a recliner that was bought by the family was missing out of a clients room. It was found later but was there no one paying attention on the night shift? She wouldn't eat the food there because it was so nasty. I tasted it and wouldn't have fed it to my dog. I would bring food in for her or she wouldn't eat. I was told that her stay would be completely covered by her insurance. A month after leaving, I started receiving bills adding up to around $500. I was told that the insurance had changed and this was her portion. I wouldn't allow any of my family to ever go to this establishment.

This is a filthy, negligent, emotionally bankrupt facility. AVOID it at all costs. The Administrator is toxic and hateful to clients. The staff is barely competent. There is revolving door of new employees that don't stay because the conditions for both staff and clients are unbearable. The clients sit all day with nothing to do. There are no activities other than serving ice cream and digital bingo. No PT. They divert NHC bills to your home and refuse to pay for 6-8 months, clothing and personal items disappear. If you've heard anything negative about a nursing facility, it probably originated at NHC.

Highly recommended! I am in healthcare. I did my clinicals here. I insisted on this place for my father. Later I insisted on this place for my mother. The issues, abuse and challenges that employees in healthcare have to deal with is extremely challenging. The nursing staff is very attentive and patient ! Anytime I have ever had a concern the staff went above and beyond to resolve any issue in whatever department. Every department from dietary to laundry to nursing has always exceeded my expectations. My mom loves the food! She complains about the bacon not being cooked right but dietary was quick to address the issue. My mom is difficult to deal with at times. She has a lot of behaviors that require creativity and patience. The staff has shown great patience with her. The administrative staff is very involved and quick to assist with resolutions to any issues that have ever been raised. Activities department should be commended for their ability to create interests that appeal to every resident. The therapy department is good at motivating and encouraging my mom. The floor nurses are very attentive and understanding The CNAs show great strength in patience and kindness. The staff is great at redirecting my mom and encouraging her in all her goals. My mom loves to give to the community. They once arranged for my mom to ring the Salvation Army bell at the facility! The social services department has always been very attentive and open minded in creative solutions to any issues. Maintenance has been very helpful and understanding with various requests. This facility seems to have good teamwork! The director of nursing and administrator especially should be commended on their leadership skills. As a family member or a patient ....the facility can not resolve any issues unless you communicate those issues with someone in management. Advocate for yourself or your loved one by communicating your concerns! Mahalo!
