What they won’t share with you is the quality of the food. They have no full time chef, did they ever? They serve food high in sugars, salts. The staff often fills in because they cannot hire people to stay on. For example, pizza was served a few weeks ago, and they gave 2 pieces, but very little pieces. When asked for 2nds we were told no. The admin staff does not want to seem to address this; which tends to make one feel budget savings is their bottom line. Soups… once in awhile it might be called a soup, other times, broth with some noodles. Steak and or hamburger is very fatty and gristle. Most people after 6 months won’t say anything as the admins act like we’re complaining or being unreasonable. They target the “complainers” and discount their words. A bit about administration; we are in our 70’s, 80’s, we are here because we need some measure of help. Discount chronic issues, but believe, the food for dinner is the most disheartening experience experienced. A major corporation purchased Monark, and they know quite well what they are doing to us.

My dad moved in to the Independent Living wing of Monark Grove 6 months ago. It was hard to move out of a home he'd lived in for decades but Sharon helped us discover all the best features and services. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. He settled in quickly, is very happy, and thriving!

My mom said to me yesterday, I think George would have liked it here. Since her husband passed and she had to make the move from Florida to be near family we could not be happier to have found Monark Grove! There are so many activities, classes, and entertainment offered daily. If mom is not in the salon (onsite) or pretending to ride the bike in the gym, she is chatting with new friends. Not sure why some say the food is not great, we all enjoy joining her for a meal and the food is always good. Filet, salmon, weekly specials, daily homemade soups, and the main menu changes monthly. Did I mention how patient the waitstaff is? It's more like a resort than senior living. Special thank you to Laura for giving us our initial tour and knowing she is still always available, with a smile, if we have any questions. The front desk staff is fantastic, too! It is so comforting they are there 24/7 for mom. Thank you to the entire staff for giving us all peace of mind. Take the tour! We researched many places and definitely picked the right new home for mom.
