I wouldn’t wish the last several days on my worst enemy. Fighting with the health care system all for Martin Health at Westminster Village to send my father home, without assistance, because we couldn’t write an astronomical check to pay for an entire month. Found out on Friday at 5pm insurance stopped SUNDAY. And today, they put him in a van to go home when he cannot get out of a chair alone. No meeting halfway. No compromise. Even after stating it’s not safe for him to go home. The last care meeting stated we would have a discharge date told to us Monday/Tuesday. All for them to screw him over and now allow a man they deemed unsafe to go home, to leave. When he gets home, he won’t have care that is necessary. THIS is healthcare in 2026. This is what it looks like when the money is more important to places than a person.

Calls put into the social worker yesterday afternoon went to voicemail, from multiple family members. All to get a voicemail to one family member at 4:45/5pm that they would get back to us in the morning. The communication stopped when we were rapidly looking for a solution with LESS than one business day to figure it out.

I am praying that he makes it safely through the next several days as we have medical evaluations done at home in order to get him to a long term placement. Just extremely sad they wouldn’t let us pay a week so those evaluations were done in a safe place for him.

I would NOT recommend Martin Health to anyone in the Bloomington/Normal area. They clearly used a ridiculous contract to put an elderly man on the street knowing the family couldn’t come after them legally. This is absolutely disgusting!
