The staff seemed wonderful, and the food was ok. My mother in law stayed there a weeks after a fall. My father-in-law and I were disenchanted by the care tho.. no gait belts, she was there for a fall, and was unsteady getting up from the wheelchair. They sent her home, untrained, she's only been home less than one day, and she's already gone rogue, so to speak. Her husband was there almost daily and saw how unsteady she was. There was no positive reinforcement on correcting unsafe habits. They expected him to do it.. of course she's not going to listen to him. He's no qualified! They were going to charge him an extra day because it was not safe to bring her home(we live in the suburbs on a steep wooded hill). They suggested a chair bus with people.. we agreed, because she would have help by trained EMT's we were told. My father-in-law asked if they were all wheel drive.. our car won't make it and the truck was fishtailing -they said "sure". We paid 150.00 to a 3rd company Coastal, again we asked if it was AWD. Yup.. they put her in a wheelchair van, that couldn't get up the hill.. my father-in-law had to go down to the local church out their wheel chair in his truck, half opened because it was too big, fishtailing up the hill dangerously to the house, and it took my FIL and my hubby to push the wheel chair in the snow, and almost hurting her getting her up the stairs because she wasn't strong enough, they had to half pull(my hubby) and half push(FIL) just to get her up the last steps while she was crying "I can't do this" Then they had to bring the chair back to the van guy that was waiting safely in the church parking lot. My inlaws paid 150 for the uses of a wheelchair. What a sad excuse of a service!! All because they couldn't wait another week to make sure she was ACTUALLY ready. She's been coughing and complaining all night. She was DEFINITELY not ready to come home. I am glad others have had a positive experience, but this was DEFINITELY not ours! They may be ok as a nursing home maybe.. but not a rehab. And if they aren't using Gait belts as many rehabs and nursing homes do, that risk of hurting a patient by accident escalates.. read up on it!! I had to because my stint in rehab in Beverly, that's the FIRST thing they did was put me in a belt when I was up and around with my walker.
