I can’t tell you how terrible my experience is with this place. My patient has Dementia and it is very clear that no one in this place has been trained on how to deal with patients with Dementia. I’m exhausted with the lack of respect for not only the patient but with the family members as well. I am going to try my best to get him to a new place asap. Please look at the LHS Website (previously known has DHS) when looking for how a SNIFF unit is rated by the state before making your decision on where to put your family Member. It is quite eye opening how poorly they have measured up to the Health Standards they are required to meet. At this point I couldn’t begin to site the names and incidents that have happened.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS NURSING HOME Maison de Lafayette‼️‼️ My 72 year old grandmother has been staying here for the last 2 months healing from hip and knee surgery. She has dementia, and does get easily agitated sometimes (that comes with dementia) She was liking it there at first. But then we ran into all kinds of issues that they just tell us we have to solve and figure out ourselves. -They were refusing to wash her clothes at first saying “family needs to wash clothes” when that is not true. They even left her with no clothes on one day, just a tank top and diaper. She was freezing all day. (We werent aware she needed clothes at this time) Well we ended up getting them to wash them anyway, what do you know they end up missing. So we just wash them now. -She got fitted for a brace a few weeks ago so she can work out on that leg and move her knee. Well guess what? The brace is no where to be found, they’re telling us it’s in their building somewhere. They just don’t know where it is. And that’s the furthest we have gotten. She STILL doesn’t have her brace‼️ we already had to get approved for more time for physical therapy, and she’s not even working out what she’s supposed to while she’s there! 😡 -They leave her in the bed all day sometimes not checked on, not changed or anything. I was trying to not take it to Facebook, but what else can I do to get y’all to take care of my elderly disabled grandmother?! She can be rude at times, but the jobs you guys have y’all should know y’all aren’t allowed to treat patients differently just because of that, and that’s what it seems like is happening here. -Oh and she also hurt her neck while being there from them over working her in physical therapy, and can barely move it. This is making her unable to reach her water and her call button to call the nurse, so it’s serious. They were refusing to put biofreeze on her neck just to ease the pain because it “came from our house” but when i went there and questioned why they can’t put it on her neck they said they can. Then why make it an issue when she asks? yall please tell me if I’m tripping or not before I end up crashing out‼️ I’ve currently been on the phone with them for almost 30 minutes trying to get a hold of her nurse. I had to hang up because they are ignoring me. Facebook do your thing for my grandmother please. She’s already depressed having to be in there for the holidays and having to deal with this isn’t helping.

Very Concerning Experience – Lack of Care and Respect My family has had a deeply concerning experience with Maison de Lafayette that raises serious questions about patient care, communication, and basic standards. We already had a pressure-relief mattress topper prior to admission and requested from day one that it be used. Despite repeated requests throughout early December, there were ongoing delays, poor communication, and lack of follow-through. The resident had no bed sores prior to entering this facility, and bed sores developed while in their care, which is extremely concerning. The mattress topper is still not on there. They are blaming maintenance but medical orders were given. Dietary care has been unacceptable. The resident has been on a renal diet for years, which is clearly documented in her chart, yet meals provided were not appropriate for renal or diabetic needs and were often high in salt. On one occasion, after returning from dialysis, the resident was given only a dry bologna sandwich with no water, which is completely inadequate. Basic daily care has also been lacking. The resident was not being changed into clean clothes regularly, affecting comfort and dignity. Additionally, colostomy care was not performed properly, with the flange not being changed as required, increasing the risk of skin irritation and infection. There were also serious concerns with respiratory care. The resident’s CPAP machine was not applied until 11:49 PM and many nights not at all, despite being required overnight, even though the patient is very alert and aware. This delay raises concerns regarding safety and adherence to prescribed treatment. Most troubling was an interaction with LPN Sonny P., who spoke to family members in a condescending and dismissive manner when we asked reasonable questions about the mattress topper. Families advocating for medically necessary care should never be treated this way. Additionally, we requested to speak with the Director of Nursing and the Nursing Facility Administrator at 4:30 PM and asked for a phone call within 20 minutes, but as of 6:00 PM, we have yet to receive a response, which demonstrates a lack of accountability and communication from leadership. Overall, this facility demonstrated poor follow-through, inadequate care, and unprofessional communication at both the staff and leadership levels. Families should proceed with caution and be prepared to advocate strongly for their loved ones.

My grandmother stayed here for 6 weeks. She had a hip surgery and the goal was to get her into physical therapy to walk again. They didn’t do any therapy on her leg till 5 weeks in and it was a constant pain trying to get information out of them. They never updated us with her conditions and the nurses neglected her. Another nurse from a different hall would come and help her every night because the nurses in her hall couldn’t be bothered to. She would ask for someone to change her colostomy bag and they would say they’d be right back and nobody would show up for 3 hours. After all of this, when we picked her up to take her home she told us that they would only work on her physical therapy with her for 15 minutes because “they had a lot of people to get to”. They charge for a hour everyday Monday-Friday. Overall, my grandma did not get the help she needed and they were next to impossible to work with.

I went to visit my loved one and The workers over here are always sleeping, even the nurses. You can hear residents crying about how the nurses don’t help them and are lazy on multiple occasions. One star needs major improvements, and better staff that actually want to work.
