5 stars PLUS for this godsend of a caring place for loved ones, and their families! Our 97.5 year old father was there for only five days before he passed, but in his few last days he/we received care that exceeded our expectations. Every department, every shift was not only there immediately to address our concerns, but always asked what MORE they could do to answer questions and make us comfortable. So, staff A+; cleanliness A+; food A+; atmosphere, bright and cheerful; facility culture of respect and support. We were so touched and astonished when our father was honored with a ceremony as he left, covered in a flag, staff solemnly standing beside his guerney wirh hands over hearts as taps were played, then the flag was folded and given to my sister and me. Wow. If this review sounds over the top, go see for yourself. There are more than ample reasons that the Bangor Veterans' Home is known as THE best facility in the state for care of your beloved veteran family member.

Both of my parents received the very best of care at the Bangor VA. My experience with the staff, the facility and administration was wonderful. Having just lost my mom I want to say a huge thank you to those who were there with me and my mom those last few days. Your kindness and compassion was truly appreciated. ❤️

Of all my nursing jobs, maine veterans home has been my favorite. I have experienced an immense amount of teamwork and compassion in my time on residential care. There is a bond between staff and supervisors where you are not scared to ask for clarification. Supervisors are always willing to jump in with a helping hand and use any moment possible as a teaching moment. I truly have enjoyed my employeement in the Maine Veterans Home community.

They have been taking excellent care of my great grandmother and giving her the care she needs as a resident. they make sure she is up out of bed and getting the food and nutrients she needs to get through her day. Thank you to all the staff that watch over her and make sure she is okay on a daily basis. your hard work doesn't go unnoticed with me :)
