My husband has been a resident of the home for almost 10 months. The aspect that I like the most is the cleanliness of the facility and the professionalism of the staff. Everyone is very friendly. My questions or concerns or answered promptly. The grounds are in a rural area and my husband and his friends get to see wildlife such as deer and birds, etc. He has made many friends among the residence and staff. They have a variety of entertainment for the residents. I appreciate all they do for him. It was a very difficult decision for me to transfer him from home care, which was just me, to the Vets home. But, I know he’s in good hands at the facility.

I’m relatively new to this area and found this facility by chance. My husband is a veteran, and this is the perfect place for him. The residents have a comradery and enjoy talking and visiting together. The staff at War Veterans Home has been great! The nurses are top notch and have taken excellent care of my loved one. They are also very caring and have encouraged me also as I have dealt with my loved one’s illness. The facility is always clean and well kept, and the staff decorates the main areas for every holiday for the residents. Every week there are activities to involve and interest the residents, such as bingo, dancing performances, singing, animal visits, crafts, birthday parties, etc. I can’t say enough about the ladies that organize all of these activities; they are loving and truly care about the residents. We have had a very good experience here, and I would recommend the Louisiana War Veterans Home if you need care for your loved one.

This is not the place to send your loved ones if you truly care about them. I've never seen such negligence. Some of the employees are so disrespectful! I've even seen supervisors take the employees disrespect as well. This is a not a place to go to. It seems like they care more about the reputation of the facility than anything and may attempt to sweep things under the rug once something is addressed.

They hardly answer the phone at this facility. My dad is staying there and they required us to us their doctor(Venu Kakarala In Slaughter LA). I could not tell you when he actually visited my dad. When I visit the facility its depressing. The staff just seems to be just collecting a paycheck and the state owners don't care or do any spot checks on their facility. Do not take your love one to this place.

I have dealt with nursing homes, etc. Dealing with my parents. This place is incredible. Always striving for improvements. For 2 years I have visited every week. You would pay 5 or 6 thousand a month anywhere else for this care. And trust me, you wouldn't get the attention to details you get here. No, I haven't been here at night. So, I don't know what care they get then. But, if it's half what the day crew give. Thank God!
