I want to recognize the outstanding work of Lotus’s events team. Their coordination, dedication, care, and above all, the affection with which they carry out each activity make a tremendous difference. I had the opportunity to attend the Father’s Day’s event at Lotus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and could see how the events team and their coordinator were attentive to each patient before, during, and after the activity, making sure everyone felt cared for, comfortable, and special. I want to give a very special recognition to Aileen. Thank you for always giving more than 100% at every event. It is clear that for you this is not just a job, but a true vocation of service. Your dedication, your joy, and the love with which you do things help many of these older adults forget, even if only for a moment, the difficulties of everyday life and enjoy moments filled with happiness. God bless you, Aileen, and bless the entire Lotus team as well. Thank you for leaving such a beautiful mark on the lives of each of these beloved seniors. Your work truly transforms lives.

I really want to like this place. My brother stayed here several years ago when it was Rio Pinar. It was not fun. Residents were not allowed to go to the courtyard, there was no socializing and the place smelled like urine. Now, my brother is requiring to be back at a Nursing Facility and because we had heard about changes at this location... I toured it. I was happy to see that there were a few of the staff that remembered me and my brother as I toured. The foul smell was gone. They had new furniture in the rooms. Visually... it was night and day to how it used to be. We gladly placed my brother back into this facility. The day he was transferred from the rehab he was in, to Lotus... I went to Lotus to fill out any documentation and get info on how to pay for his share of the monthly financial responsibility, etc. After waiting for 45 minutes... I was told that I could not be helped. That the nursing admin had left for the day and that no one can help me until he's admitted. Seems odd to me. The place he was at before coming to Lotus was told that transport would pick him up at 4PM last Friday. I was given the same info. My brother sat in the lobby from just before 4PM until AFTER 8PM! Who's fault? No one knows. My brother has a form of dementia... not exactly dementia. It's called Wericke-Korsakoff syndrome. Think 50 First dates. His brain has a problem maintaining new memories. This also comes with something called ataxia, a severe loss of motor skills. My brother seems to be in an advanced stage of these chronic conditions. The 1st couple of days, he was soooo happy. They were socializing him and rolling him around as he is wheelchair bound. Then, he had 2 falls in less than a 24 hour period 2 days after getting there. Expected with his mental conditions and advancing ataxia. ( I hope he sees a neurologist soon to confirm that it is truly advancing.) After the second fall, he was taken to the ER. I never got a call from Lotus. I found out from him as they were rolling him towards the ambulance. The Nurse on duty that morning very adamantly tells me she did call at 11AM the day of his 2nd fall. No calls show on my call log. See the enclosed images. Now... understandably... he is being supervised as he is definitely a fall risk but... how it's being done is not cool. He's being isolated in the dining hall right after breakfast. It started yesterday. He was given no explanation. He kept calling me in desperation but unfortunately, I could not get his calls until 6PM. All day he was isolated. For someone with his mental condition... it's kind of cruel not to explain the reason behind what he sees as confinement. Could he possibly be in a social environment with someone watching him? Instead he feels like he's being held hostage. Not given a chance to nap as people his age tend to do. Stripped of dignity as he is rushed when he uses the bathroom. Just seems like this can be handled better. One more thing. He's been in there for 6 days now. I'm yet to hear from ANYONE in there nursing department regarding any paperwork, financial responsibilities, medication management or for any medical discussion. I call the receptionists, who by the way, the 2 young ladies I've spoken to are very sweet and always helpful.... but whenever I ask to be transferred to someone in nursing...I get sent to a general voicemail. I've left 2 messages there and am yet to get a call back. I even sent a message through there corporate portal... and nothing still. I sincerely hope that they communicate with me after this review but... who knows. As I mentioned on the outset.... I really want to like this place. I hope there's no animosity taken out on my brother as well.

This is my first time sending my father-in-law to this location for Respite. When I came to see the location and had a tour, I was very pleased with the atmosphere the people and the cleanliness of the facility that’s the first thing I noticed. When I took my father-in-law to the location to drop him off, the Nurse was great the gentlemen who put him in the bed was cheerful, friendly helpful everyone there was very kind. The employees are all organized and have all the information on my father-in-law. I have taken him to other facilities and the workers are not told what is going on they had poor communication. My father-in-law only speaks Spanish and I was so happy to see that they have employees that speak Spanish there. That made me feel good and my father-in-law feel comfortable. Checking him in and discharging him from the facility was so easy thanks to Chelsea and her staff it was such a relief. I’ve had nightmares at other facilities. So to everyone at Lotus in Orlando thank you so much for all your hard work and kindness that you gave my father-in-law. You made me feel at ease and was able to relax on my break. Thank you so much!!!😊

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my 30 day stay here. Let me share with you a little back story in 2019 I had to go to a rehabilitation center in the downtown area and to say I left pretty traumatized is to say the very least. So when I was told I had to go again all I could remember was that past experience. I was given a list of choices. I did my research. Aside from some comments in the reviews I chose to come to Lotus, a bit anxious not going to lie. HOWEVER, from the moment I came in (and I arrived in the late night hours) I was made to feel so welcomed. The next morning staff members started pouring in. They introduced themselves, what their roles were and made themselves available at any time. From there on out for the next 30 days I have been showered with attention, kindness, love, being heard. Today, my discharge day, feels so bittersweet because I will miss every single person who took care of me. I have to end this review giving them a shout out!!! Ivrose, Clementine, Kelly (Admin Guardian Angel) , Marie Florestal CNA, Esther CNA, Philomena RN, Orieta (nursing supervisor), Norma OT, Hoon PT, Dana OT , Katie PT, Ashley OT, Maria (housekeeping) , Mike ( food manager) and last but not least Lucy (social worker). I also have to add that the team work among the staff is very impressive, they work together in such a positive way and they try as best they can to meet every patients need. In conclusion, one piece of advice, remember that all the people who work here deserve to be encouraged and given grace at times because they are taking care of multiple patients with different levels of care AND I highly recommend Lotus nursing and rehabilitation.

I would not recommend Lotus Rehab on Lake Underhill.First of all, they lost my husband. More below… My husband was worse off after a 2 week stay for rehab. It was awful and he died 2 weeks later. Lotus didn’t give him the rehab he needed. Nurse’s wouldn’t come when you hit the emergency button. You could die from a heart attack, etc. He lost all leg strength after leaving Lotus. My husband died exerting himself when trying to get in the car. If he had leg strength he wouldn’t have exerted himself. It’s taken me 4 months to write this review. I’m grieving so much. While in Lotus Rehab for stroke rehab, his hand swelled up the worse it’s ever been. I took pictures Friday night before he was being discharged on the following Monday. It was so bad that the Saturday after when I took him dialysis. They sent him to the ER. I called Lotus and had to leave message that Soug wouldn’t be returning around 3 and that he was at the ER for his hand swelling so bad. When my husband was being admitted, I left and went to Lotus and removed all his stuff. No one asked any questions. I saw his lunch tray and dinner tray sitting there. Lotus called me at 10:00 pm looking for my husband. That was when they noticed him missing…10:00pm !!! I That’s crazy! They do not watch their patients. I lost it…Do not send your loved one there. Worse experience of my life!
