A diamond in the rough. MY EXPERIENCE WITH RETIREMENT HOMES IN NO CAL -- Being a California Native born in 1975 to parents from the 1930s I've seen a magnitude of deplorable housing situations for the elderly in No Cal, pre and post their dependency for nursing. The scams are disgusting and countless, topping at one place requiring $100,000's++ for a *non-refundable* deposit. The fear for one's safety has people who can, dishing it out to these scam artists. Many other places require one's possessions to be signed-over to the caretakers' organization..???????? How this can be legal is beyond me. In good time they will be jailed or at least stopped, but for now you must be very careful regarding elderly housing. THIS LINCOLN GLEN MANOR & THEIR SKILLED NURSING -- Magnificent. Condos are single floored at this location, each with lovely little backyards in a gorgeously manicured garden sanctuary. Meals are good and deliverable daily.. Area is safe and beautiful for walks. Excercise and classes are available to the community. Sidewalks in the surrounding neighborhood are old and bumpy so you do have to be careful with that, but lovely. Nurses are on call and should your mind and/or body slip there's an attachment community run by this Lincoln Glen Manor as a Skilled Nursing Division and Housing yards away that you can move into depending on your situation, including a mental care unit should altzheimers hit. This group is lead by a very spiritual community, which leads to the rooms, housing and surrounding environment being extremely well kept, clean, loving and caring. This past December my mom had a stroke and had to move from her lovely Lincoln Glen Manor condo to their Skilled Nursing rooms. She has her own absolutely lovely, sizeable room, there are **no** off-putting hospital smells or bad food save for an occasional not great dish. The caretakers obviously care and work hard for their members. There's a well designed dining area with TV's and cloth covered tables, greens and well kept carpeting keeping a cozy area vibe. I'm blessed my mom found this place for her own self (she's a defiant brilliant retired doctor) and hope this helps whomever else is needing & looking ...
